Fairy Kikaku models of Japan has announced the release of the 1941 Thai Coastal Defence Ship Thonburi.
Released in March 2017, this resin model kit contains parts to build the obscure WWII-era Thai Coastal Defence Ship Thonburi in 1/700 scale.

This new kit will supplement the already available Thai warships set also offered by Fairy Kikaku https://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/news/24405&mode=thread&order=0.

The ship is listed by Hobbylink Japan at https://hlj.com/product/FIRS030 and can be ordered for ¥2,000 (about US$18.00

I just can't get past their practice of casting the hull in two halves like that. I suspect a LOT of clean-up, putty, and sanding, and maybe even pinning, to attach the stern and bow sections, and make the join line disappear.

Biggles, I know what you mean - why would the guys at Fairy Kikaku design the models in a way that creates such unnecessary extra work? The castings themselves are relatively crude, too. On the other hand, the subjects are unique and probably easier than scratchbuilding...
