Fujimi models of Japan has announced the October 2017 release of their “Nishimura Fleet Set (Fuso, Yamashiro, Mogami, four Destroyers)” in tiny 1/3000 scale.

The ships of Admiral Nishimura’s “Southern Force” were part of the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October, 1944. A secondary effort meant to support the main force attacking the US landings through the San Bernardino Strait, this fleet was virtually annihilated by US surface units as it tried to force its way through the Surigao Strait.

The set consists of the battleships Fuso and Yamashiro, aircraft cruiser Mogami, and four destroyers. Also included is a small sea base with shorelines, apparently intended to represent the narrow strait. All parts come molded in grey plastic.
