Fujimi models of Japan has announced the December 2017 release of their “Sho Ichi-Go Operation/Operation Kita Aircraft Battleship Fleet (Ise / Hyuga / Zuikaku / Oyodo / Destroyer 7 Vessels) (New Mold)” in 1/3000 scale.
The ships were from the Japanese Sho Operation, part of the sprawling Battle of Leyte Gulf. The Zuikaku, Ise, and Hyuga were part of Admiral Ozawa’s “Northern Force” whose job it was to decoy the US fleet away from the main effort against the landing beaches to the South. Although successful in its mission, Ozawa’s force was decimated with all the carriers present being sunk. Operation Kita was a successful mission to return the two Ise-class hybrid battleship-aircraft carriers and four escorts to Japan from Singapore in February, 1945.
The set consists of the aircraft carrier Zuikaku, battleship-carrier hybrids Ise & Hyuga, command light cruiser Oyodo, and seven destroyers. All parts come molded in grey plastic.
The 1/3000 "Sho Ichi-Go Operation/Operation Kita Aircraft Battleship Fleet (Ise / Hyuga / Zuikaku / Oyodo / Destroyer 7 Vessels) (New Mold)" is listed by Hobbylink Japan at https://hlj.com/product/FUJ40141/Nav and can be pre-ordered for US$20.46.
