Relive the days of sail with Cutting Edge Waveform 1/35 USS Constitution Diorama.

The Cutting Edge Waveform 1/35 USS Constitution Diorama was created by master patternmaker Captain Joel C. Labow, MC, USN.
The diorama will be approximately 12" tall and 10" square. It will includes all the resin pieces to construct a historically accurate Old Ironsides fighting top. Cutting Edge’s set also includes all the rope, tackle, etc., along with the Coehorn mortar and Chambers repeater to build this awesome diorama.
Cutting Edge has also taken the time to design numerous jigs and other touches that make this a very buildable set for any competent modeler and figure painter. Also, they have taken the time to break the construction down into creative "blocks.”
These "blocks" are clearly and logically organized into units of work that won't take the modeler a great amount of time to complete. Each block will require only a limited amount of time, and covers a specific construction task.

What would a Fighting Top be without the sailors and Marines who manned it? Cutting Edge commissioned the sculptor Alan Ball to create the figures to complement this outstanding kit.
The Fighting Top kit will ship with one figure, the Captain of the Top. Other sailor and Marine figures will be available, both individually and in sets.

Hi Kenny, An interesting and unusual kit, thanks for the info. Not my genre, but having seen what jba can do with a partial kit I'm sure someone will have a lot of fun with this one. Cheers Al

I'm a bit perplexed, but then I am not a real fan of figure building. I put them in dioramas because they are neccessary. I have one dio that has 50 figures in it and I have another planned that will have probably around 20. As for the ship, I would rather have the whole ship, and I sure wouldn't tackle this one in 35th scale.

What a totally unique and original idea. The closest thing I can think to compare it to is the 200mm figure of the B-17 waist gunner with a portion of the planes side. My guess is this will be far out of my price range, but I would LOVE to see it built at a show some day. If I ever get skilled enough to do figures justice I would jump at doing this one.

I think that it is an interesting idea. It looks very well for what it is- the fighting top. It is a difficult task to model just a section of sailing ship. You end up with ropes to no where, like the forestay and the upper shrouds on this. Even if this were the whole mast, deck to truck, the stays, bowlines and braces would have no where to end or have to be left off. Tough one to call, I wonder if the folks who build the mast cross sections will be interested.
