Yes, sailors ran down through the alphabet and used just about every letter to mean something. I guess it was easier for the Marines who rode along to spell things if they only used one letter. Sorry I couldn’t resist.
So here is a list fo the B words. First letter in the Navy aircraft designation, indicating a bomber plane, Beech Aircraft Company, Biplane, Boeing Aircraft Company, Boeing Aircraft of Canada, Ltd., Boilermaker, Bomber Field, Built for British, suffix to plane designation, as in F4F-4B, Budd Manufacturing Company, Classified Civil Service Worker, Ship Symbols preceded by B represent Lend-Lease vessels for Royal Navy; e.g.: BAm is British Minesweeper, Butcher.
Just as with A most of the B words are no longer in use. Almost all of these were used during World War II.
