Further to this news writers reports earlier this yearDragon Models have just released these detailed images of their impending release the 1/350 U.S.S. Gearing DD-710, 1945 Smart kit .
Judging by these images which are a mixture of new and previously released this kit looks to be superb.
This new 1/350 kit shows the U.S.S. Gearing as she appeared in 1945.
This kit features all-new parts such as the hull and superstructure. The distinctive 5-inch gun turrets are accurately rendered by three-directional slide molds. Meanwhile, other details such as the twin 40mm antiaircraft guns, 20mm guns and searchlights are inherited from Dragon’s series of Gleaves-class destroyers.
There is a generous selection of photo-etched parts to enhance detail and to add a refined look.
There are six miniature sailors to give life to the completed model.
The most exciting news is that this kit was to be released in May 2009.
The retail price has yet to be announced.
