Please join me in welcoming JPS Modell to the Model Shipwrights family.

This Denmark based company is owned and operated by Mr. Jens Popp and is currently specializing in its own range of acrylic modelling paints.

Their very apt and defining business quote is:

"If the details are the heart of a model, the paints are it`s soul" (Peter Ankenbrand)

The JPS Modell range of products was born out of Mr. Jens Popp’s frustration out of using enamel paints for airbrushing combined with a limited RLM range of paints. Mr. Popps obtained some pigments and initially made ten colours now his range has grown to over 200 colours.

So if you are searching for that accurate paint colour for your latest project you must put JPS Modell on the list of resources to investigate.

Their paint comes in easy to use squeeze 30 ml bottles with a tiny tip to allow a very controlled drip of colour to come out. We also understand that each bottle also contains a mixing tool inside which helps to stir up the paint just by simple shaking.

JPS Modell paints are optimized for paint brushing and could be airbrushed without thinning, but for a finer coating and definition it is recommended that they should be thinned.

All colours can be thinned with simple water (if you keep them thinned for longer use distilled water) however if you want higher thinning ratios, it is recommended that you should use the V01720 Special thinner.

We understand that the JPS Modell range of paints will stick to almost any surface, as long as the usual precautions are made. (Degreasing, priming, etc.)

Please note that JPS Modell. are a wholesaler and do not sell to the public however they have a number of dealers including 48 Special Models, Take-Off Model Shop, Rebell Hobby & Modellshop CH contact details of which are listed on the JPS Modell website with links etc. supplier

Not for nothing, Sean, but, one will have better luck finding a virgin in a brothel than locating a retailer who stocks JPS Colors. The dealers listed at the JPS Modell site either carry a pitifully (maybe in the neighborhood of 25-30 colors, as in the case with 48 Special models) small stock; or, nothing at all. I can't see the purpose of acknowledging a new vendor whose products are unobtainable by means other than what would be considered customer-friendly. Do you have access to Mr. Popp? If so, would it be possible for you to ask him why his products are so difficult to find? It's all fine and good that he has such an impressive line of paints. It isn't worth the time of day to list them on his site if they aren't available for sale anywhere.

Hi Joseph At the time of my news story way back in June of this year I was certainly unaware of any dealer/supply issue with this Vendor. My primary goal with this story like all news stories I post is to bring a Vendor and their product lines to the attention of all forum members. I am sorry you have experienced this issue. I am also sorry I do not have direct contact with Mr. Popp. Cheers Sean

Thanks for the quick reply, Sean. It's a shame that JPS (Mr. Popp) hasn't done a better job in finding a distributor for his line. He seems to have a comprehensive line that covers the requirements of whatever niche a modeler prefers to build. I emailed him earlier in the year; but, he doesn't seem to reply to inquiries.
