Adalbert Schnee's U-2511 (April, 1945)

Now back to building the boat… I’ve started working on this boat around February of this year with most of the work done in the last couple of weeks. It has taken me this long because I initally cut out all the flood holes of the original kit, then I started paying more attention to details and I realized I had to patch up many of them, so I got tired of it after a while.

This was my first experience drilling out flood holes, so one side of the boat suffered more than the other, as I was learning the technique. I am now confident I can do much better on my next kits though!

Once the flood holes were cleared, I decided to learn something else, so I picked up some plastic plumbing pipes from Lowe’s and “designed” a pressure hull for the boat, to minimize the ‘see-through’ effect. . .

This is what I really like, somebody taking the time and effort to research an item and do as good a job as they can to recreate it. This is modeling. Great job.
