Thanks for the words of encouragement, mates....I must say that it's a good thing that there is extra PE railing in the Toms Modelworks PE set that comes with Harry's original kit...
I buggered up two whole sections yesterday trying to form the intricate bends of the pilot house deck (soooo very close to perfection, one time!) and finally had to walk away from the bench...tweezers and toothpicks!

This is interesting, Mark, and because I have, Rob has, and Mike have all built it, and I must say it is one of my favourites. There's something about the proportions, and that aft tripod mast that make it look puposeful - well done - so far.
Also, the other Baumann mothod is stretched pva - you'll find this in one of his later builds. I've used Rizla blue cigarette paper before for canvas, and its not as good.
And I shall be using the strecthed pva on Averoff - wish me luck, or have a good laugh as you watch it all fall down

Thanks, Peter, and yes, I too agree (as I was just saying nearly the same to Rui a few moments ago) that this is one of the most enjoyable builds that I've done in a long, long time...like you said, there's just something about the tug that makes it look "right"...I started the aft tripod last night, and have a presentable looking base tripod constructed from brass rod, and will be adding the further fiddly bits possibly this evening to make it look, "just so"...

Stretched PVA, eh?....now you're getting the wheels turning a bit here, mate, as I've used the same method in making "windows" in diorama builds in the past...just may have to give it a go (and a laugh, possibly!) myself as well!
Cheers,
Mark

Great looking work on there Mark, she is coming along nicely. That Tripod set up came out looking excellent as well as all the work on the mast. Looking forward to the next installment.

All un-printable here, my friend!
Thanks for the encouraging words, gentlemen, and so far, a definite challenge for my bumble fingers, but otherwise, one of the best times that I've had with a build...just may have to re-consider 1/700 for future build challenges (although my next build is 1/350 for the Pre-Dred Campaign...phew!

)
I am LOVING the scratchbuild conversions between the two vessels that I'm working with, and luckily, I have some decent reference images to work from (and just recently found a VERY nice one)...

I do believe that she's
just about ready for first paint, mates...I will be holding off on adding some of the deck items for a bit, will probably paint and then add them as I go...
...off to the booth!?

Hey Mark. Is it just me or is the rear right side gun bent? Other then that it looks great.
PS: what are you using as a work surface? Some kind of black ceramic? I have a feeling that stuff would look fantastic with a thin layer of Vallejos precolored water effects on it.

Probably is Jacob...little parts, big fumbly fingers...I've bent and straightened nearly every mast, shaft, rod and barrel at LEAST once thus far!
