Aaron great start that still looks quite a fair size kit for 1/72 scale and nice bright seats to will they get toned down or left to stand out when the two halfs are joined.
Sometime in the next week or so I will be visiting my local RNLI Launch centre on the river Tyne near Newcastle, to do a walk around feature. Just found out that my supervisor at work used to be a volenteer at that station and he is organizing a vist for me with the boats Maintinance engineer

Nice progress Aaron and beefy.
Finall got my finger out on Revell's Dolphin. It's not really a HH-65 at all but a re-pop of Matchbox's Dauphin but in red (lots of it) and some very generic USCG decals.

Lots of inaccuracies/missing bits that I won't even start to go into but left-side cabin window definitely needs to go.

And no interior detail so that's where I started..Before..

During..

After..

All mostly from the spares box or scratchbuilt. The rear seat is from a Gazelle and fuse wire for the seat loops.
Thanks for looking everyone and happy modelling.

Dermot & Keith - good start! Nice job on the interior Dermot.
I still have a few builds in the queue, will not start this one till the summer.
Not sure which kit yet; but probably the Airfix RAF 63ft Rescue Launch.

If any of you guys want to read a really good book about ASRLs, pick up a copy of CRASH BOATS OF GORLESTON by Tony Overill. It tells how they did theilr jobs and what dangers they faced ... both from the enemy and allies alike ...
A fascinating read ...
I could not put it down.

Ready to get cracking. Here is the kit, White Ensign's 1/350th Fairmile long range rescue launch.

The plan is to waterline the launch, 5 mins work with a 2nd cut file, set on a base approaching a rubber dinghy to rescue a downed pilot.
more soon

Here is a progress update sprayed the whole plane with Tamyia X-11 chrome silver then masked it off and sprayed it with craft store acrylic yellow

this was the 1st time I used the cheap craft store paint in the AB. It came out a little on the dull side hopefully a coat of gloss clear will correct that. here it is unmasked

next up some hand painting

Looking good Sal, don't envy you all that masking.
Thanks Keith, hope to get some time at the work bench over the long weekend, so should be able to post some progress.
Will be using L'Arsenal twin & single 20mm, as I find those the best compromise in level of detail & ease of handling.

Some more progress,

The L'Arsenal single & twin 20mm, in the bag are the resin twin barrels.

Sheilds gun carriages added to the sheilds on the fret

twin mounting completed and fitted. Single sheilds added awaiting barrels. The railings have been fitted, they need a bit of straightening out, they are finest & most fragile I have handled.

Simon, I didnt realize how small that ship was you are making there is it going in a bottle
Here is some progress on my SB-17 decals have been applied

and some of the black marking lines were not supplied as decals so they have been painted on

I sprayed it with gloss and dont know what happened but the national insignia on the top of the wing got ruined, must have been some gremlins

so now that needs to be repaired

Thanks Dermot.
The B17 lookig good too Sal.
Progress, this time on the base. Have decided on a calm day, to make the seascape simpler.
The position of the boat & the raft were worled out by tiral & error on the base.

and drawn in, including the wake of the boat.

The rasied portion of the wake was added with plastic rod, and i have also started on scratchbuilding the raft.

The base has now been covered with lightly rumbled tinfoil, (ordinary cheap kitchen foil is best)

next jobs, spray a base colour on the base, paint some crew & downed airmen & find some suitable decals for the boat.
