Micha, Daniel,
you both are experts on WW II German warships. Do you have photos or information on the ZG C/38S optical gun directors?
Seems to be as good a secret now as in 1940
Cheers,
Julian

Julian . The system of control of shot he was still the bosses of the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, with three positions of control for the principal artillery; the front position was equipped by an estereoscopios of 7m of base, other two by equipments of boss of 10m. Both positions later were possessing three directors ZG C/38S and periscopes.
For the control of night shot one was possessing two positions equipped with two Zelsaule C38s in the front and back part of the ship. The information of the white, scope, course and inclination were sent to the system of control of principal shot located in the platform of the half compartment 15; in the compartment 7 of the back part an equal position of reservation existed, except for the computer of bombardment to land.

Sorry for my English Daniel

Hi at all...

Thank you for your comments and assists!

.... so let's go on a little bit. The first pictures in color .... Bismarck hull underwater in red, upper side in grey..... what do you think about the colors? I think it is looking good so far.....

Now I will let the hull dry till next weekend.... then I will tape upperside and downside for painting the black stripe.... also the shape of the red at the rear of the hull has to be made correct when the dark stripe will be painted.

But now - one week time to dry before taping everything ...

Next weekend the nearly black stripe, then clear coat over all.... then the decals.... then clear coat again... then oil colors for the windows and on top of all (for a better "not plastic" look), then final matt coat again.... hull painting finished

I am using Lifecolor as well. The schiffsbodem red is great. For the superstructure I am using hellgrau, starting off very light because the weathering will make it darker.
cheers,
Julian

Hi Julian,

I think about 1940th - no painted waves or black/white stripes, but the red paints with the swastikas on the deck...

Woohoo! I can see the pictures!!
Don't know if you did anything Michael but I am seeing all of them fine now.
Looking very good mate.
I am tossing up what version to build but I am thinking of a nice shiny new Bismarck before it had all the extra markings added like you are building. But I have not decided yet.
Cheers and beers

Sorry, I meant what is it like to work with?
Is the PE good quality?
How does the wooden deck stick and are the cut-outs correct?
Stuff like that. I can get the set for under $200 but I want to make sure it is worth it firat.
Cheers

Hi Warren,
oh.... sorry... my mistake!

So what to say about the MK1 parts so far.... the first PE parts are great.... the frames of the windows are easy to mount.... the parts got not damaged when handling a bit too hard with it.... the wooden deck is fantastic. I glued it on the deck today (pictures tomorrow I think) - the wooden parts glue perfect.... the cut outs are 100% exact - all cut outs fit (also the smallest ones !!!). And the wooden parts are already cut out, only some smaller parts are inside the bigger ones... and these are only fixed on 2 or max. 4 pieces...

So I think - the MK1 set is each USD worth.... its a great set!

Hi @ all...

what do you think about the color of the wooden deck... would you keep it like that? Or applying a little oil color wash? If yes - brown? Black? everywhere or only partially?

Thanks mate

From my experience the decks are the right color, but I have been on some ships that have been bobbing around the ocean for a long time and their decks are light grey rather than wood color. Bu most military ships are kept in A1 condition.
