Great work Micha,
the weathering looks very realistic.
The deck looks fine as it is IMHO, I wouldn't do any wash on that, (check Dade's Kongo build, he used a dark wash on his wooden deck so you can see what you think of the effect).
cheers,
Julian

Having just finished my Kongo I think Mr Bell's deck is too dark, but that is just my opinion after looking at all the photos of the ship I could find. Unless a deck is deliberately stained dark it will tend to get lighter as it gets older due to the effects of salt etc. But the Bismarck did not last very long so the deck would still have been in tip-top condition when she went to Davy Jones' locker.

Looks fine Michael.

Hi... I've been lurking for a while around here but finally signed up. Great work on your build Micha... I'm building one too but am getting burned out... it's becoming more fun to watch other builds than do my own.

Thank you @all!

I glued the wooden deck on the hull... the deck is in perfect shape - all cut-outs are fitting perfectly on the plastic deck.... the look is great... I love the deck!

I also added the line on the protection of the probellers...

The next steps will be the painting of the anchors and their rusting... and the fitting of all add-on parts on the deck.... air vents, ..... whatever.

Hi, I'm a newby here but have been following the 1/200 bismarck builds for a few months. Brought mine in early December and have been waiting for the aftermarket stuff to come out. Couldn't wait any longer and just brought the Mk1 DX pack, it's in the post and heading my way. Also brought the hull vents, screw protectors, etc from a German supplier, these arrived this week and are great. Will be cracking on with the build as soon as the DX pack turns up. Thanks for all the inspiration I've got from your builds.

Good to hear neil. Seems lots of people in the UK have theirs in the post.
Mine is in the post as well but the start for Big B is still a ways off yet. I am still a bit Bismarked out after my 1/350 Revell build.
Hope mine comes out half as well as the ones in progress on MSW.

Adding some further details on the deck.... just waiting for the decals with the Hakenkreuz on it as I will use only the white round ones without the red part.

The anchors received some rust made of pigments....

Great progress Micha,
rust effects look just right, ( not weathered to death ).
I am rather curious about the railings supplied with the Mk.1 set. The Trumpeter PE railings are very soft and not very easy to us if there are a lot of curves or bends needed. How is the Mk.1 set? Stiffer or more of the same?
Cheers,
Julian

Hi Julian,
thanks a lot!
Being honest - I have not tried the railings yet... not even packed it out.... but I will check it and get back to you:)

Hi Julian,
the railings from MK1 are easy to build... high quality, do not bent when you do not want them to.... I think much better then Trumpeter's parts....!

Let's go on...

after removing all details from the walls of the 1st floor I added these as etched parts from the MK.1 set......

Important: The mounting instruction of MK1 says that you have to remove the balcons for the flaks at the front and rear part.... this is WRONG - only the balcons of the front part have to be removed - only for these 4 balcons are etched parts included!

Now I will do the same with the rear 1st floor.... before I will compare the results with pictures from my books to find out what still is missing and what I could add additionally.

I remember doing that in 1/350 scale last year, but there was even more PE with that one... shiver..

Looking very good Micha,
Detailing is great.
Julian

The 1/350th PE you used looked very good Warren, horrifying job to fit it but the final result was worth the effort,

Thanks Julian. That Kagero 3D book may come in handy.

What references are you using Michael or just the instructions? Here is some inspiration for you..

It is very good Micha, I have some doubts about the paint scheme featured in the book but detailing is excellent.
