Hello friends of the German Bismarck!

I want to show my new project here... it is the Bismarck in scale 1/200 by Trumpeter - more then 120cm of the famous Bismarck...

Additionally I will use some add on parts as following:

MK.1 Design: DX Value pack, 13 plates of photo etched parts, wooden deck, brass barrels and parts of the main mast, resin parts, decals and more.
modellschlachtschiffe.de: further photo etched parts, flags, brass parts
MZ Modellbau: anchor chain
Brass propellers
And some other stuff which comes later time by time.....

Here is the DX pack of MK.1 Design:

First I planned to make the steps at the rear of wire... and drilled all the holes. Looked bad... filled the holes, sanded, filled, sanded.... the steps will come later mad of PE parts of MK1...

So... closed holes... and the first work on the later place for the Bismarck... wooden stand....

The 2-piece front of the hull is glued to the hull, fillered and sanded.... also all the hull is sanded so far...

Decided to open the "meshs" on the hull for the water cooling of the engines.... opened up, sanded and thinned the hull from the inside. Later there will follow some meshs on the inside and a small part of the canals behind the mesh. Hope to see it later when the hull is closed and its dark inside.

Currently waiting for the meshis for the coolong I started to add the frames of the port holes.... small PE parts... about nearly 100 pices front, rear, left and right....

So far for now.... I hope that I get the meshs for the cooling these days to go on inside of the hull....

Hope you like it so far!

Cheers
Michael

Yep, I can't download them either-there's definitely an anti OZ conspiracy afoot!

Quite sure I am not the world's fastest builder Michael.
The mesh looks good, will you be blanking off the inside behind the mesh?
Cheers,
Julian

=========== UPDATE =============

Cooling intakes are finished and first time painted (lifecolor, "Schiffsbodenfarbe" Rot, aufgehellt).

At the stairs from the deck inside the hull I cut of the walls behind the stairs:

... and made same kind of floors behind the openings to give the ladderways more depth. The handrails on both side of the stairs I made of thin wire.

Hope you could see it on the pictures as it is dark and small inside

The next steps are gluing the deck on the hull, modifying the anchorer hawse holes, filling and sanding the deck / hull before I will start with the feeled 1000s climbing irons....

It appears that no one in Australia can see any of the photos as the site blocks users from the Asia-Pacific region. What a stupid thing to do. Sorry but no pictures equals no interest for me.

Do you have a version with English under titles Mischa, or maybe a synchronised text? Posting German text on what is on a whole an English language based site is rather arrogant even for hard core "Heinrichen",you are doing an excellent build, let other readers enjoy it.
Cheers mate,

Oh.... I thought I wrote it in English here... SORRY my friends, I forgot - my mistake!

In the past days I have mounted several add on parts for the main deck which I will paint separately from the hull - capstans, fans, etc. These parts already received etched parts from the Trumpeter kit or - (all others then the small fans) etched parts from the MK1 add on set. The reels were made completely new with the MK1 parts - etched parts and resin parts.

During this weekend I will make the first painting on the hull - the red part at first.

I found some infos on the web and in books that - after calculating it in 1/200 scale - I have to make the red parts about 4cm fron the deepest point up, the nearly black stripe about 1,2cm... and the top in grey....
I will start with the red color. Today measuring and taping.... then coloring

************ UPDATE ************

The last steps before painting were the two holes at the rear of the hull. I drilled the holes and made a etched round part around each. The holes were these:

Quelle: Wikimedia

Regarding the choice of the colof for the hull / ship I took the following picture as sample. For the red part I made a line in 4cm high on each side, before putting tape on these lines for the painting.

Quelle: www.ww2incolor.com

As soon as the red paint is brushed, I will go on with the grey top, then the dark (not black) stripe, then the darker parts front and rear, at the end the black / white stripes on each sides.

But fist the last pictures of the unpainted hull..

Next update with red hull
