Maindeck railings going on, I don't like long lengths, cutting into shorter sections makes application much easier.

The glue marks will be taken care of with a mist coat of Tamiya Flat clear at the end of the build.

One side finished in four sections.

Once both sides of the maindeck were done, and a few other small sections of railings. The Pennant numbers have bee taken from the Hawk decals sheet for British & commonwealth escorts.

just the rigging to finish now.

Now you're really almost there - fantastic what you made out of this model!! Looks really great!

And I do love your DoY, but I think I mentioned that before...just your boats - what an improvement over the WEM ones that I have on my PoW. Not that the WEM kit was bad in any aspect, but the Pontos is playing in a different league!

Thanks Jan, To be fair it is a good base kit.

I agree Pontos have raised the bar, I do like their upgrades. Really fancy taking on the Bismarck in 1/350 with their new set.

Talking about the Pontos Bismarck set....I do have the Revell kit in my stack, and I have some barrels, the Eduard kit, and a Pontos deck that I got on a special offer...however, that all will not keep my from getting the new set, after I saw it and downloaded the instructions. Wow...no way for me even trying to resist

Very nice work. I like open bridges and RN destroyer silouetes. Back in those days they looked so modern.

Hi Naseby,

They do, especially the L/M class with those big twit turrets.

Thanks for looking in.

The Final push,

straightening the copper wire to use for rigging.

From what I can see from the photographs of the Mclass the rig is fairly simple, so I have added some stays to the foremast and a couple of aerials.

All done

Or so I thought, till I looked at these pics posting them, I have forgotten to refix the Type 286 scanner. Will do that & take another shot.

Ahoy Simon

A really nice work especially when you have so many other projects on the go as well.

I like how you do your railings and rigging very effective methods indeed.

Cheers

Looks absolutely great - what else to say? Well, maybe that Russ is right and I lost my chance to get my hands on one of those - WEM caught my by surprise entirely!

Amazing what you do with copper wire...rigging is my weakest part of the build, I feel already pretty uneasy thinking about rigging my Repulse. I got some EZ line, hope that will help!

Thanks Sean,

Lots of practice, and mistakes along the way, that's all it is.

Thanks Russell,

I will miss them too, greatly reduces the number of British WW2 destroyers available, still there is always the possibility of something from "Mad Pete" Hall's Atlantic models, and rumour has it he may release some of the WEM etch (He did design it)

Thanks Jan,

Don't fear rigging. I have heard good things about EZ line. I am tempted to give it a try.

Hi Keith,

Thank you, I started with copper wire because I had it around, and had just had a disaster with a lycra based thread. Works for me.

Hi Joe,

Thank you, straightening is quite simple, a firm but not hard smooth surface, and a steel rule, just roll the wire back and forth under the rule, and it will straighten. The great thing is, if you bend a section trying to fit it, just roll it again.

Thanks Mike,

A great little kit,

Si

Hey Simon,

What's the flat top behind the final boat pictures? Another build per chance?
