Well while I have some time to spare I have been building a 1/350 navy, these are all work in progress except the last which is the little Zvezda Soviet Armoured Gun boat. I'll let the photo's do the talking.
All will get a wooden base as they go.

Thanks Simon.

Well still waiting for paint and other items so the slipway has gained some more although progress is being made on some of the others.

So we have types VII-A and VII-C joined also by a type XXI 'electroboat' and a 1941 Gato class.

Small bit of progress which has seen the last started to being the first almost finished in the USS Gato, also added the Dutch O-16 to the slip way.

The gun's and fittings down the bottom of the second photo are for the WEM HMS Starling which is being cleaned up.

Thanks for looking in Russell, as much as I would like to do the battle wagons I have found that space dictates other wise plus I have found it quite fun so far doing these small ships and sub's. If you check out the 'what the tide washed up' post you'll see more ships and sub's that have landed along with some ref material and detail sets.

Thank you Michael.

With one down two have hit the slips, the WEM HMS Starling and Flak lighter.

The Staling has been on the bench in the background slowly having bits done to it but it's now at the stage to join the rest, where as the flaklighter has been in the stash for several years so with all the small ships and subs on the bench I thought I'd get it out and have a go at it along with all the rest.

That's quite a handful of builds you've got going there Luciano-I'm struggling with juggling a couple of ships, a wingy thingy and a car at the moment, so it's a phenomenal job you're doing to manage all these

Two very interesting builds Luciano, are those stabilizer fins on the Starling?

Thanks Julian, yes they are stabilizers, they made the class good stable AA platforms. What's odd about this kit is the mix of resin, photo etch and white metal, I've not had white metal in a kit for some time.

A bit of progress on the Starling, some photo etch has been added.

That's it now until next week, back to work tomorrow and a show over the weekend, however I will make a start on something at the show.

Not a problem Julian we all have those moments talking of bases I need to get some more as I'm going to run out soon. All the Axis (German, Japanese and Italian) will face right while the Allied (American, British, Canadian, Dutch, French and Polish) will face left.
I got the bases as oiled wood pre cut and shaped then I drill them out to accept 3mm brass tube simple really, the ships and larger subs then get corresponding holes and slip over the brass tube. The smaller subs have to have a smaller diameter rod which then goes into the brass tubes.

OK having spent the weekend under canvas at a military show with a model show attached I spent the time putting these together. I almost came away with a Soviet sailors hat!

Julian, I sometimes see something that may add to a display like the hat sitting in the middle of some Russian / Soviet ships and subs.

Any way I've had some time at the bench so here's some progress, not the Starling but the England, pe from GMM. Still lots to do, I feel my skills with the pe are not yet at a level to tackle the 20mm Oerlikons so these will stay as the plastic parts.

Ok the USS England is ready for primer so here are the last shots before all the pe disappears.

Ok here's the England under a coat of primer and just about to get a bit of black sprayed down the sides for the boot topping.

OK the USS England has got some paint, there's some touch up to do and all the detail painting has yet to be started but progress has been made.

Thanks Russell.

Name plates have arrived so the first one has been added to the base of the Gato, the flash makes it look black but it's a pale metallic blue with silver writing.

I'm doing all the American ships/subs with the blue name plates, German are black/silver and British are white/black

Ahoy Luciano

The nameplates are a real nice touch.

I like the idea of themed colours as well.

Cheers

Very nice fleet of little ships you've built there, quite away from the mainstream, that's a very nice touch.
The USS England came out very well, good work, and the PE looks fine - I think you can tackle the oerlikons!

Cheers,
Jan
