Thanks a lot ....
When? Besides work .... Coming home about 17:30 every day... my wife coming home not before 18:30... so 1 hour every day ... That's it
maybe a bit more at the weekend sometimes
I have one large room for "stock" and working, and one for the finished models
Cheers

Micha,
Absolutely amazing. The crisp and clean appearance and organization of your work space is mind boggling!!! oh and your Type VII/C is nice too...J/K
Love the effect you achieved on the decking of your Type VII/C. With your permission I think I am going to try and steal that method for my I19 deck.
Your work space is pretty cool though, I like the organization and storage..maybe one day if I can stop moving every two years and settle down I can get a man cave like that... yes im jealous.
thanks again for sharing what is turning out to be an incredible build.
Dave

*** UPDATE ***
Several washings and paintings later... the wooden deck is mostly finished. Also several add-on parts (etched parts, turned brass parts, plastic parts) were mounted, painted and weathered with oil colors.
Later the hull will get a layer of clear coat matt and - partly - gloss (= dry and wet)
Also the turret is growing. The lower half is consisting of three plastic parts which needed some cleaning, some putty and some sanding when glued together. All the further details were made of etched parts from Pontos and RC Subs as well as some turned brass parts.
The hatch will remain in an open position and gets some further details also on the inner side.
Sopme more details and parts follow here ...
Cheers

Nice job on the deck. The wooden one was definately the way to go. Much better (to me) than the other one you had. I wouldn't have even thought about that once it was in place, but you nailed it!

Once more I can second what was said - beautiful work!! Your first attempt with the etch deck looked pretty good already, but this beats it by far!!
Excellent job - I am pretty sure I would not have dared to remove the etch deck once it was in place, but you did and clearly it paid off!! Fantastic!!
Cheers,
Jan

Ahoy Mica
Lovely work and great updates indeed.
The deck rework was worth it that is for sure.
The turret is looking nice.
Please keep the great work and updates coming.
Do you have the "Hobbyzone" from Poland storage system for your work area?
If so what is your opinion on it?
Cheers

Micha,
Amazing work, the upgraded deck does look more authentic than the PE Deck. Also the conning tower and level of detail is amazing. Look forward to seeing what else you do with this master piece.

*** UPDATE ***
The turret received several further metal parts… etched parts from RC-Subs, etched parts from Pontos and some turned brass parts also from Pontos Models.
Once everything finished the parts got a black primer, followed by a first layer of light grey, followed by some further grey colors sprayed over it. Then the decals were added, the details painted… the wooden parts at the inside added …. And everything received a first black washing ….
Put on the hull…. (not glued yet) ….
Next Stepp…. Washings in black oil color, white oil color on the turret, some airbrush grey on the turret…. Matt clear coat on the turret …..
Cheers

The FLAK was built new, consisting only of turned brass parts and photo etched parts. This is highly detailed and still movable up/down. Once finished it was black primered, grey painted, details paint-brush painted, then with oil colors weathered.
The anti-ship gun on the main deck was built using the resin kit of Eduard's brassin set. This is highly detailed, but the etched parts of this kit are very fragile, specially the holders of the resin-handles. The painting was made analogue to the Flak.
Once finished both guns were mounted on the decks.... and the colors adjusted to the rest of the boat .....
The exhausts received some light black areas of smoke ....
Now the antennas / rigging follows, and the flags ....
Cheers

I just noticed the ship's bell behind the wintergarten. I never had noticed one in pictures before.
Can't wait to see her with flags abd pennants flying.

Michael,
your VII C looks absolutely fantastic!! Another stunning and awesome job done, great detail work on the artillery!!
Are you going to leave the bell as shiny as it is?? It is a real eye-catcher and probably even realistic since it would be removed and carried inside once underway. And shining the bell has always been done with great emphasis, in almost all navies I would assume
Cheers,
Jan

Ahoy Mica
What a superb update - thanks.
I truly love the work with the Flak gun.
It looks superb.
I love the shots of it without the paint!
I compare it with the mediocre gun supplied in the Airfix E-Boat kit and I now want/need the Pontos set.
Cheers

Thanks a lot @ all!
Yes I will keep the bell as it is... The sailors kept it very clean all the time I think ....
The gun is fantastic in details... Also the RC-Subs etched parts include the parts for the gun, nearly the same details. Only missing the turned brass parts in their set...
Cheers

dear Michael,
impressive build and a nice lesson for the paintwork on my LCM3!
One question: what is the wiring around the gun tube for?
Looking forward to see more,
P.

Michael,
As always, breath taking work. Really shows the true potential of a styrene kit. Looking forward to seeing the completed project.
