Whoa, Si! Bridge components? How big are they and how much can you see on the Cossack? I can't remember if it's an open bridge or not?

They are quite small, will take another pic this evening with something to give scale.

Cossack does have an open bridge, and Trumpy represent it really rather well, but the quality of the North star bits should really lift it.

Looks great, Si!!

Your approach of doing the sub-assemblies with all etch on before installing them seems to be pretty successful. And this additional parts for all the bridge equipment look really good - they will add a lot of depth to bridge/compass platform. I'll have to see if I can get one of those in Germany, as until now I am supplementing RN detail with DKM detail parts...

OMG they're SOOO tiny!

I am really pleased with those sets, I ordered direct from North Star in the Ukraine, they did take a little while to get to me but worth the wait.

Prior to the arrival of these I had been using a mix of German, Japanese and US Bridge gear, might order a couple more sets, especially with the generous supply of voicepipes.

Before I get to play with my new toys, a few mundane tasks to get done.

The kit screws are not the best, too small and four blades?? The Boat set, fortunately comes with a couple of decent white metal three bladers.

For comparison.



They were sprayed chaos black, then brushed with citadel Belthazars gold. Fitted in place they do look a little on the large side, but a vast improvement on the kit parts.



The pennant numbers are on as well, from some time in late 1940 F 03 was replaced by G 03



The bridge grating in place, a nice touch on the kit, in place.



The north star parts, the binnacle and peloris castings are superb, including cast in voice pipes. on the back fret four binocular mounts.



Where I got to with the bridge, the North star components fitted, a few more kit parts to go.

Fantastic work on the bridge with the little extra details Si! They really stand out!!

And yes, the props do look a little big...but those kit's parts look really odd.

Right, finally got yesterday's pics uploaded.

The squashed rear funnel came out of surgery rather well, both funnels etched up and ready for spraying.



The bridge done. The bridge screen and the awning frame came from the kit fret.





I have also added signal lamps to the bridge wings, and voice pipes. cut down the rangefinder to fit its tub and added voicepipes.

Wow Si, that bridge looks absolutely fantastic with all the extra detail on, and very nice paintwork as well - really brings it to life!!
- I do like the awning frames very much as well, really gives a sound overall impression!!

I have to admit I am pleased with it, the North Star set is excellent. I did like the bare awning frame, that came from the Trumpy etch in the kit, and was a lot easier to handle than I thought it was going to be.

I did not want to hide all that detail under the covered awning included on the WEM fret. Doubt that would have been rigged on a stormy Atlantic night in May 1941.

Now I will get on with the serious job of building the ship to mount on.

The funnel was my own stupidity (double ) I shoun't have knocked off the bench and when I did, I should have looked where I was putting my thundering great feet!

The Bridge is mostly down to the quality of the North Star Bridge equipment set, (the resin castings are superb, and the etch is excellent and for it's tininess is easy to handle. That is aided and abetted by the grating, windows and awning frame from the kit etch.

Todays progress should be posted tomorrow.

Sunday's progress.

The foredeck details on, except the anchor cables, I need to have dig through the stock to find something suitable.



The etched searchlight platform put together.



Liferaft racks and lower bridge-wing supports from the WEM set fitted.

X gun deck "test fitted", it was tight so it might be fitted.



Every thing test fitted.

Question to anybody looking in. As flotilla leader at the time, I am assuming Cossack would have worn Funnel stripe(s), but I cannot find any pics, can anybody help?
