Mark,
I agree with Thomas - the water looks great!

But those little aircraft on the sanding sticks in the background do look ready to come aboard! I look forward to seeing them with their markings on.

Hi guys,
Got a shed load of family stuff going on over the next week or so. Getting young Duster of to University and a few other things, won't get into the workshop, or be in easy reach of the lap top.
have fun, and like a rubbish terminator "I'll be back"

Framework for overhead lights for the well deck. Will be putting an LED strip inside this framework.

Mock up of the well deck with lights on.
Will be lighting up the hangar bay in similar fashion.

Thomas,
The lighting looks very effective. Something to think about for the hangar deck of a carrier perhaps.
cheers

Michael, thanks. Actually, I did light up my USS Reagan hangar deck (see photos earlier in this campaign thread).

Si, take a look at Micro-Mark. That's where I got the LED strip lights, connectors, and transformer. Fairly reasonably priced (at least on this side of the pond...).

I have decided to try something other than a submarine kit. Here is my entry to "Flattops". It is the original 1/700 Hasegawa Akagi.

Hi Gary,
That classic Hasegawa Akagi was my first non snap-together aircraft carrier build way back when. It was entirely brush painted with Pactra enamels, and I bought enough extra aircraft to fill the entire flight deck stern to bow! I thought it was great at the time, but I actually made a real mess of it... Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I probably won't start until mid-November when new paints arrive. I will be using the latest Hasegawa instructions for painting. We've come a long way since the simple days of old.
Also noticed there are no decals for the aircraft! Maybe I should buy a new set.

Well deck with markings added.

Haze gray and (almost) underway... Lower catwalk railings in place, hull painted gray, boot stripe added.
Next, get the vehicle and hangar decks finished and added (hangar will be lit up, as well).

Long time coming, but a small update on the Intrepid.
Pontos 5" guns built, an example of one of each.

All the catwalks finally round the after third of the flight deck.

Hopefully more regular work on this one.
Cheers

Si,
Nice work on those guns. You just can't beat brass barrels for scale and straightness. I am surprised that your ruler you use to show scale is not metric.
I thought us Americans were the only one's still holding out from switching.

Thanks Mark,
Nice resin & brass, they were relatively painless to assemble.
Well some of us older Brits still like to use the old scale, as it is what we grew up with. I can work in metric, but I think better in old money.
Cheers

Si, brass work is looking great!
