Michael, great to see things moving again on the Enterprise!
You are a master of PE and that Infini set is something to behold! Telescopes! Who'd have thought?

Thanks Thomas. I have been not really active lately on the blog but I have been following your build in the Flattops Campaign. great finish and you already started another. Very impressive.

Telescopes indeed! Part of the very vague instructions Infini has. Instructions to make them, no indication of where to put them except some unrelated photos showing them on the top deck.
cheers

Thanks Sean,
I hope I can keep up the standard but the quality of the PE helps.

Cheers Dave,
You may remember this is the Infini set you sold me. I wondered at the time when it arrived what I had got myself in to and now I know. It going to be a long haul to the launch on this carrier!
thanks

Well I had intended to paint the hangar deck but learned a need a different blue. Since I decided to use Tru-color paints for this build I ordered their version of Deck Blue. So in the meantime I have started on the fore flight deck support.
Kit piece versus the etch.
Lot more to go on this yet. All those fine lines have to be filled before the bulky bits go on.
cheers

Please tell me each beam is one piece and interlocking. That deck support detail is amazing compared to the one that came with the kit.

Wow, that fore flight deck support etch looks soooo much better than the plastic representations! I hope it won't be too hard to view on the completed model...

Michael,
Very nice. How do you like those Tru-Color paints?

Hi Mark,
You're right. there only 9 pieces of etch in that photo including the roof. Each beam is folded to give the width. They slotted together perfectly. Infini have an excellent system where for the main beams there not only grooves but holes as well that little nodes slip into so you can glue from the back for extra strength.

To be honest Tim, I think you see very little once it's complete. A few more photos to come and you'll see why.

Thanks Dave. The jury is still out on the Tru-Color. You certainly can't spray from the jar. I have tried a couple of different thinners so far, Tamiya and Mr Color, and I can get that to work with a bit of experimentation and the finish is very nice. But the elephant in the room is the pressure required. They suggest 28-35 psi and even though I have a reserve tank on my compressor it just can't maintain that pressure for more than 3 or 4 seconds which is going to be very annoying trying to paint the hull of a carrier. I have ordered some of their thinner along with the deck blue so I will reserve judgement on the final outcome but I'm not buying a new compressor for this.

Saturday afternoon and it's raining. Perfect for progress.
A bit more brass added. I am not sure what they are.
And to Tim's question, I am not sure you will ever see these elevated walkways once this is in place.
None of today's work is set in place otherwise I will never be able to get paint on it. most of the big brass is complete but still a lot of small pieces to come so time wise I don't think I am halfway yet on the piece.
cheers

Michael,
That is one amazing assembly of PE you have there. It really will add the detail to the ship.

Michael,
eventually I'm joining in, too. I just went thru your build from the very beginning - you are joining an absolutely amazing job! I fully agree with all comments made, this is going to be beautiful. Your etch work is marvelous, and certainly raises my interest in Infiny as an aftermarket seller.
I'm in and following and looking forward to your progress!!
Cheers,
Jan

Continuing to excel at the PE origami Michael!
Very nice work indeed and, even if those walkways can't be seen, at least we'll know they're there
