The only kit part required is the deck.

Thanks Russ, I used to have a rule for building planes that if you can't see it don't build it With this, I don't know where to stop since I can't test fit it without finishing the hangar deck which requires some paint. Anyway, it's a good challenge

More progress. Some tedious work on putting the in the second tier beams, 56 of them, and the base to the main beams. (I need to learn the technical names for these things)

The forward and side gangways(?) and the proof there is some styrene required for this build. Not attached as I think this will be easier to paint in sections.

And where we are now with only the main supports to be built.

Nice work on placing those new beams. I hope you don't have any fit issues when you laid down that flight deck.

you know I think it will all be worth it as once completed it will be visible (in glimpses) and create a point of interest when viewing her.

I hope you're right. This is all done trust in Infini though their fit for the island was very good. But till then fingers crossed.

Cheers Si! The Infini set is certainly extensive and the PE is easy to work with but there is still a lot of plastic that I have to get on to once I finish the shiny bit.

The forward flight deck support is finished with the key supports installed.

No detail too small to be missed for Infini. Small hose reels on the back of the supports.


With that all done now time to turn my attention to the more complex superstructure, the rear flight deck support, which is a two layer affair.
The lower level underside has been started.


This is a form of avoidance i.e. not having to start the painting but the PE is good to do once you get into the rhythm.

It use to be that way, but I learnt a little goes a long, long way when it comes to CA. I spot both sides of contact with the glue using the tip of an old #11 blade. It usually works

The top, or the base of the front flight deck, depending on how you look at it, is done.
The main structure

the rear gangways

front walkway linking the two forward gun tubs

front gun tubs


the front side gun tubs


So after a few months procrastinating by burying my self in brass I finally started experimenting with the Tru-color paints. After a few more attempts I finally settled on a mix that would spray which means I got some colour of the hangar deck.

The actual colour, Deck Blue 20B, is darker than photo. Once sprayed, the finish is very good.

Which all means I could start on the Hangar walls. Taking a lead from Si I thought I would have all the hangar doors opened. Merit sought of help in that regard as the make the doors separately, so the outer wall looks the part

but the interior wall has this

but hey, who cares when you have Infini PE. This is all that you use from the first picture of the outside wall

and with the upgrade


It's a long time since I had to glue any styrene together in this kit

Exquisite work with that brass Michael!

Looks like you'll need to re-enforce the stand to cope with the weight of all that brass!
