I did say it would not be a long wait for the Hunt.

I have decided to build her as HMS Aldenham, L22, mostly because that is quite close to where I live.

What is in the box, a nicely cast hull, losts of resin, some turned brass, and an etched fret.



The hull, a nice easy clean up.



The instructions.

Quite a high parts count. The etched fret.



The larger componments, the bridge & X gundeck.



a nice selection of colour schemes.



Keel laying.

The hull cleaned up.



Underpinnings fitted, including two nice stabilizers.

Some progress today.

Well this was done on Friday, the hull sprayed.



Masked and the upper hull sprayed Tamiya TS80, which approximates to AP507c



started on the Camouflage, his is going to be an interesting process, as the scheme is quite complex.

Watching with great interest Simon. Anxious to see what you do with that River Class as well.

Put my Ashanti on temporary hold awaiting a new glue for PE. It's called Gator Grip Acrylic Hobby Glue (Extra Thin) and it is supposed to be just the thing for PE without all the drawbacks of Super Glue. In the meantime I will lay the keel tomorrow for John Paul Jones, which I an converting from a Trumpeter Cole.

Si good luck with your Eskimo, mine stalled some time ago, I was building her just before she lost her bow. Quiet a bit of back dating need as the kit is after her repair and refit. Oh you’ll need to source a pair of twin Lewis guns for the bridge wings.

Thin blend you say... I have to give it a try. I have been very happy with my regular Gator Grip bit it is a bit thick.

Hi Luciano,

That is the photograph that gave me the idea!

There is a bit of work to do on the kit, but at least it gets rid of the worst issue - the bow. have a North star 4bbl unit lined up, some boats, and one or two other bits and pieces.

But give me a chance to finish this puppy first mate.

Yes, that is correct "thin blend". Free Time down in Georgia carries it. Others may as well. My local Hobby Town is taking the first steps in carrying it also.

Intend to try it out on Ashanti, and if successful I will also use it on the JPJ.

I use it on PE railings mostly and on PE that lays flat. I like the slower drying time, allows for more time to get the PE placed correctly without feeling rushed.

Not sure if it is the same stuff, but I can get an Extra Thin Gorilla glue over here, I use it on larger joins, (like railings) but tend to tack in place with superglue because this stuff take a little while to bite.


Very useful as it will capillary along joints.

It is certainly the most complex scheme I gone for, it should look pretty good when it done.... If I get it close to right.

Likely it was done in drydock, by a load of dockyard mateys with big rollers on long handles, so it wouldn't be perfectly straight.

I would not try and replicate that in 1/350th, it was hard enough trying to replicate free hand painted D Day stripes on a 1/48th Seafire.

A very large roll Chuck.

Did a drydock when I was a cadet in the merch, but we weren't permitted to be on deck whilst they were doing the repaint, and that was in the late 70's, all I can recall is the dockyard mateys were setting up the biggest airbrush I had ever seen.

The two very nice screws, they appear to be 3D printed, but the do look good.



painted and in place, the citadel "base colour" gold seemed to stick to them with no issues.
