Got quite a bit of work done over the past week. The mast, boom and ladder are glued into place. Started in with running my stays and rigging lines. I ordered 20 link per inch blackened chain to arrive for the outrigger doors and tri-net.

I'm at the point where I need to get the netting attached. Dyed my tulle with a dark green and black acrylic mixture in water.

I have finally reached the end on my 'Jenny' build using Lindberg's 1:60 scale shrimp boat. Finished with all of my rigging. The netting is tulle that was dyed a dark green. I tied line around the netting and sowed the red 3mm beads (floats) to the seam (tickle chain) in the tulle. The netting is attached to the drag doors on each side of boat. Forest is at the helm in the stern section of the boat. Lt. Dan is sitting atop the boom holding on to his support rope.
A big thanks goes out to my very talented wife, Chris, for creating Lt. Dan's wheelchair that is at the stern of boat. She makes jewelry, creepy dolls and castles.
The boat's base is a fishing cage that is made from wooden sticks that were glued to a black sheet of styrene. This hides the coin battery and on/off switch. There is a 3mm LED light by Evans Design to illuminate the cabin. I plan on mounting the cage to a piece of stained wood for my base.
I used a couple film stills as my reference on this build. That, and I have no idea how many times I watched the boat scenes from the movie. I feel that I have accomplished what I set out to build. I wish to thank my wife for her help and to everyone who has followed along and offered support and interest in this kit. Cheers and on to my next project!!!

Robert,
Your Jenny came out fantastic. Considering the detail you included in your build, I have to ask; "Do you have experience working a shrimp boat?"
Well done

Fantastic build Robert. I have seen the movie a few times and I think you have done a great job capturing the shrimp boat "Jenny" and its two crew.
cheers
Michael

John - thank you and I can only say that I've looked at heck of a lot of shrimp boats!
Michael - thank you! I cannot count how many times I watched the boat scenes from that movie as a reference!
Rory - thank you! I experimented with salt and hairspray in order to get my weathered look.
I cannot wait to see everyone's projects. This has been a great experience for me!

Here is my contribution to the campaign. It is the Orange Hobby 1/350 tug Rowangarth coming in at around 350 tons.
This model is actually quite outside my comfort zone in that:
A: Its not a military vessel.
B. Its a resin kit.
C. Its a waterline kit and I will likely make a sea base for it.
None of which I have done before so wish me luck!

I am impressed with anyone who brings such small items to life! I can't wait to see your build and base. Smooth sailing on this one

Very creative mounting for your Jenny. Seems to just blend in with your boat. Well done.
Guy,
Does anyone have an update on the campaign gallery?
Thanks
John

First update for me.
I have put the basic hull and superstructure together and also started on the scenic base. Since this is my first scenic base its been trial and error (and lots of youtube videos) to get this far.
I done the basic shading and shape of the base. Waves, foam, wake etc have to wait till the ship is painted and glued in place.

There is a lot more tonal variation than what the photo is showing. I wanted to do a more dirty looking water indicative of a harbor but I couldnt get the colours looking right. So have gone for a more open water look.

Tug test fitted in place.
Now onto building and painting the tug!

Rory,
Nice start, liking the water base.
I forgot about this build, I better get started. I put the hull together and haven't touch the kit since.
