This just in, Lindberg Models to release to new 1/72 IJN submarines. That’s right folks. Lindberg is set to release their 1/72 I-20 with HA-20 Type "A" Midget, kit #70817 and the I-53 with Kaiten suicide subs, kit #708187 sometime in 2008. Retail price for these kits will be $130.00.
This just in, submarine news from Georgia. Nautilus Models has announced the release of their 1/72 Type VIID Wood Deck for use with the Special Navy conversion set for Revell’s 1/72 Type VIIC kit. This aftermarket deck retails for $40.00.
At this year’s Tokyo Hobby Show, Tamiya Models announced the release of their Japanese Light Cruiser Abukuma and HMS Repulse. That made ship modelers very happy. But Tamiya also debuted a new paint color that will make acrylic users happy also. Due out in November, it’s no coincidence that Tamiya’s British Navy Gray was introduced at the same time as their Repulse.
Delphis Models announces the release of their latest resin ship, Italian Navy Frigate Orizzonte. This 1/700 resin kit is of the new Horizon Common New Generation Frigate (CNGF), a multi-national collaboration with France and Italy. This kit will retail for $85.24.

The F100 is a 5,800t multipurpose frigate built by the Spanish shipbuilder, Izar (formerly E.N. Bazan). In February 2005, the naval shipbuilding activities of Izar were spun off into a new company, Navantia.

This just in from Poland. Profile Morskie has sent us news of their latest releases in their Warships Plans series. These six new releases feature the profiles of World War II ships from the United States Navy, French Navy, Imperial Japanese Navy and the British Royal Navy. All of the books include detailed drawings, photographs and 1:400 scale color silhouettes.

Working with their much publicized Takao, Aoshima Models announces the release of their 1/350 IJN Heavy Cruisers Atago and Maya. These sisters shared similar fates during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. While sailing through the Palawan Passage, the Atago and Maya were torpedoed by the US subs Darter and Dace, respectfully. The Atago, Kurita’s flagship, was sunk while the Maya was damaged to the point that she had to withdraw.
