Next in line of the San Antonio class LPDs will be the USS San Diego!
Bronco has sent us photos of their upcoming 1/350 LPD-22 who's timing reflects the timing between the real ships, the USS New York and USS San Diego, appropriately scaled down of course! Bronco's kit will include the same generous compliment and display options as their LPD-21 kit, and the photo etched frets will be slightly different in composition. LPD-22 was the first of the San Antonio class ships to use AIEWS (Advanced Integrated Electronic Warfare System), which if I understand correctly is a direct replacement for Raytheon's AN/SLQ-32(V), and utilized the same interface which compromised some of the new system's advanced features. These issues may have been addressed already, in which case the AIEWS system will be able to provide even further refined ship defense capabilities.
