An announcement from Trumpeter has the namesake for this monitor class sailing our way this winter.
Trumpeter has announced they will be releasing a 1/350 scale HMS Roberts in February 2014. This ship is namesake for the monitor class of ships built in World War 2. The hull for this particular ship was laid down in April 1940 and launched a year later. The ship was used to provide bombardment support for many Allied landings, including Sicily, Italy, and Normandy.

She'll be about a foot long and about 3" wide. A friend of mine built one in the 1980s to 1/72, one of the most memorable models I have ever seen, radio controlled with a working turret (elevation and training), lights, horn and it fired .32 blanks. That noise in a swimming pool had to be heard to be believed.
