Joining their Queen Elizabeth, Warspite and Barham Q.E. class battleship kits, Trumpeter has announced a 1943 configuration kit of the HMS Malaya. The Malaya was named in honour of the Federated Malay States in British Malaya, whose government paid for her construction.
She was and launched in March 1915 and served in World War I in Admiral Hugh Evan-Thomas's 5th Battle Squadron of the Grand Fleet. She took part in the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916, where she was hit eight times.

In World War II she was in the Mediterranean, 1940, escorting convoys and operating against the Italian fleet. On one occasion her presence in a convoy was sufficiently discouraging to the German commerce raiders Scharnhorst and Gneisenau that they withdrew rather than risk damage in an attack. Malaya was also was attacked by the U-106 in March, 1941 surviving a seriously damaging torpedo strike.

This Kit (No 5799) consists of over 240 parts including photo-etched details, two Mk.1 aircraft, display stand and name plate.

She is scheduled for a December, 2014 release and is currently listed for $48.95 (US).

If this a 1943 configuration she would not have any aircraft as they were removed in the October - December 1942 refit !
