This June Trumpeter plans to issue variations on two previously released battleship kits.
First is a variant of the Imperial Russian Navy battleship Tsesarevich in 1/350. She fought in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–05. She was one of three ships to be struck by Japanese torpedoes during the surprise attack on Port Arthur during the night of February 8-9 1904. Tsesarevich was hit at the port side torpedo bulkhead and the ship took on an 18° list that was partially corrected by counter flooding compartments on the starboard side. She was repaired and sent back into active duty.
This kit (No 5338) consists of over 420 parts and includes a 2 part hull, photo-etched details, display stand and name plate with an expected retail price of $89.95 (US).
The next kit (No 5770) is of the US battleship BB-46 USS Maryland in 1/700. After the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the damaged Maryland sailed to Pearl Harbor for extensive repairs. All of her 5 inch guns were removed and replaced by sixteen 5 inch/38 caliber guns in new twin mounts. Turret No.3 was repaired and the crew quarters were improved. She was subsequently sent back into action in Okinawa, softening up Japanese positions in advance of the ground operation.
The kit consists of over 550 parts including waterline plate, three SC-1 planes, photo-etched details, display stand and name plate with an expected retail price of $52.95 (US).
Both kits have just been listed on Free Time Hobbies pre-order page but no stated pre-order price yet.
