Announced for a July 2015 release and made from new tooling. The USS Tennessee was the lead ship of her class of battleship and saw action from the day of Pearl Harbor in 1941 to her final assignment of the war, to cover the landing of occupation troops at Wakayama, Japan for September 1945
The Tennessee was damaged during the attacks on Pearl Harbor, but was repaired and modernized shortly thereafter and was used in numerous locations throughout 1944, including the Marshall and Mariana Islands and Bismarck Archipelago. The Tennessee’s turret guns could be elevated up to 30 degrees, more than double of ships prior to her. Her heavy guns could also be fired up to 10,000 yards further than previous ships, and proved useful during conflict because of her ability to “shoot over the horizon.
Kit (No. 5782) consists of over 660 parts on 27 sprues, along with photo-etched detail parts and currently has a suggested retail price of $54.95 (US).
