1350
Sunday, September 27, 2015 - 05:35 PM UTC
The 55th All Japan Model & Hobby Show has just wrapped up and we have a couple of images of what appears to be the announced HMS Rodney and a 1/350 Ark Royal, labeled as '1939'.
Now, after releases of Essex class and Yorktown class US carriers, we could be soon getting a honest to goodness Royal Navy aircraft carrier from WWII in a 1/350 scale injected plastice kit. Rumors of its existence as being contracted out for other kit labels have circulated for sometime and now it looks like Trumpeter will be putting it out under their banner.

From the image that was supplied to me, I can only be sure the other ship is a Nelson class battleship and I'm not positive on the scale. I'm assumed it was the coming HMS Rodney in 1/200 announced for this Christmas but please but looking at the last image of all the Trumpeter kits at the show, it appears to be more like a 1/350 kit.

And there's also what look's like another AS365 Dauphin variant in 1/48.

We'll report more information on these kits as it becomes available.

Wondrous news, but will the Ark arrive on shelves in time for the Bismarck epic's 75th next May? --Karl

Just in time for the "Sink the Bismarck!" campaign here.

looking at the picture of Trumpy's entire stand, I'd say the Rodney is 1/200... At least it appears they've managed to avoid any horrible over representation of plating on the Ark's hull, unlike some other recent flat top releases...

Have to disagree there. The Rodney/Nelson is much larger than the 1/350 Ark Royal in the picture.

That's what I'm saying Warren The Rodney is much too large compared to the Ark to be the same scale... Ark must be 1/350 and Rodney 1/200... No joy for us 1/350 scalers on the Rodney/Nelson side, but definitely over the moon that there's finally a RN in 1/350!
