Type VIIC U-boat
The U-Boot type VII-C is the best known German submarine from World War II. It was built in large numbers and upgraded several times. This type represents the ultimate high point of the submarine era. Equipped with four bow and one stern torpedo the VII-C was a fearsome weapon. The task assigned to the German submarines was trade warfare. They were designed to disrupt England's supply lines and innumerable sunken ships bear witness to that. The "Grey Wolves" of the Atlantic made war on escort convoys and hunted in packs. Accustomed to success, however, the period from 1943 was devastating for the German submarines: the hunters became the hunted. New search equipment tracked the German submarines mercilessly and turned them into steel coffins for innumerable German submarine crews. The type VII-C submarine illustrates the rise and fall of German submarine warfare.

Ahoy Crew ! Oh Brother, this will really get the U-Boat fans going ! Although quite a few got very excited about the 1/72 scale Boats, after a while the sheer size of these beasts struck home. But 1/144th is something else ! I have no doubt the Type VII will be a terrific seller. (Although I will probably go for the -214 myself ) So what does the crew think of these new toys ????? Hi all, Great news, the instruction sheet in the Type VIID kit indicated that a VIIC would surface at some time (excuse the pun). If the 214 goes together as well as the 212 class A I have just build then I would recommend it to you Bruce. The 212 was purchased with the idea of giving me some thing to build out of the box following my hernia operation, some plan that was I opened the box the day before I went into hospital and had the thing ready to paint that afternoon, will post some picture of it when finished, not allowed to lift compressor yet, wife watches me like a hungry hawk (LOL) PeteV
