Trumpeter sends us an early announcement of a much anticipated new release, in 1/350 scale model warship kits, USS Alabama BB-60 Battleship.

1/350 USS Alabama BB-60 Battleship
SRP $139.95
APPROXIMATE ARRIVAL: November 2007

At the outbreak of WWII, the hull construction of the Battleship Alabama was just nearing completion.

Some two years later (16 February 1942), the new South Dakota Class battleship was launched, seeing action protecting British and Russian convoys in the European war theatre. Subsequently the Alabama saw extensive action in the South Pacific Islands softening Japanese defenses prior to US invasions.

In mid-1945 Alabama participated in shelling factories and other industrial sites north of Tokyo, and ultimately was anchored in Tokyo harbor at the close of the war. She participated in returning thousands of troops back to the USA after the Japanese surrender.

Kit consists of 480 parts on 12 sprues plus lower and upper hulls, waterline plate and display stand. Markings are for 1942 Measure 12. Completed kit measures nearly 2 feet long!
