Introducing a new, (and maybe better) alternative adhesive for attaching photo-etch upgrades to your model kits, an acrylic based adhesive, straight from the swamps of Louisiana, "Gator Glue"!
  • Gator_glue_photo
Kenny Loup, owner/operator of Gators Paint Mask, is introducing a new product available for order, "Gator Glue", which is an acrylic polymer adhesive alternative to using CA type (super glue) adhesives for working with photo-etch parts.

The adhesive closely resembles the look and consisitency of standard white glue, but with one difference...it sticks immediately, as does super glue, but is not permanent until dry...hence, repositioning is a possibility with Gator Glue.

I have been testing the adhesive in my shop, and have been very pleased (and somewhat amazed) with the results (an MSW review is in the works!), recently testing different paints with the glue, to check adhesion performance with various paint base formulations. So far, Gator Glue is standing up to the tests.

The glue is currently available in 1.5 .oz bottles, directly from Gators Paint Mask, for $5.00 + postage. Stop by his website to place your orders!

Hmmm, a very valid point made here, mates...and one that I quite honestly didn't consider when I was testing the product. In all actuality, most any chemical compound that contains any natural or man made liquid component will freeze or thicken (except glycol, alcohol and other "ol" type based products), especially acrylic based products, and seperate, unfortunately (I'm by no means a chemist in any manner, but real life experience(s) has taught me this fact! ) What I would like to know is if Steve's suggestion of warming up and re-mixing would bring it back to a useable state, though, or if some sort of chemical reaction upon freezing makes it unable to be brought back to a soluable state...

Ahoy mates. Living in Southwest Louisiana, I never considered glue freezing. We'll go from 50 degrees for a high to 80 degrees overnight. I'll pop a bottle of GG in the freezer this weekend and thaw it and see what happens. Gator

Hi Kenny, cheers for the refund on the glue. That says a lot about your business ethic. I know a lot of armour modellers up here are interested in gator glue, and I'm sure once the weather warms up we'll all be ordering some. I've tossed about a half dozen barely used bottles of CA glue in the last year and have just about sworn off resin & PE as a result About the reheating, I did try that. I even brought it to a near boil. Freezing appears to have permanently changed the glue at a molecular level. That being said, I still prefer to work with non-solvent based materials.

You have all those other glues with the same name Gator glue made by the others such as Viatek ? How do they compare to this one ? Been wanting to try this out just ordered it from the website. Hope I did mess up and order it at the wrong time now , I'm worried about it freezing while in the mail . Hope the weather stays warm while it's in transit .
