Nautilus Models have announced the release of their series of generic deck planks . A total of 5 sets for a wide range of scale applications has just been released. These sets are designed for the advanced builder who wants to update their model with real wooden decks.

The sheets come in five standard sizes for various uses. The decks come with a plank spacing of 0.028" for convenience and the etched area is slightly smaller to provide an edge for laser etching.

Nautilus Models have specifically stated that if you are going to replace a plastic deck, that they strongly recommend that you use some sort of internal bracing to reduce the chances of sag over a long period of time. As these items are wood it can alter shape with time and in accordance with extreme of seasons.

Nautilus Models are offering an additional service for a nominal fee - custom deck plank spacing can also be supplied.


The full details on each of these sets are outlined below:

1. 24 x 4 x 1/32 . This deck set has been designed to be thin enough to lay over your plastic deck for small sections of planked decking. You just cut the wood to the size and shape you need.
This set has a product code of 99-501 and a listed retail price $US7.00.
2. 24 x 4 x 1/16 . This deck set has been primarily designed to be be used for overlays in larger scales (1/192 and larger decks) or as a replacement for the plastic decks for smaller areas.
This set has a product code of 99-502 and a listed retail price $US8.00.

3. 24 x 6 x 3/32 . Made from 3/32" basswood this deck set is primarily designed to replace the plastic decks on most 1/350th scale ships due to the added topweight it can support. Internal bracing is however recommended. The width of this deck set will eliminate the need to use two deck parts to get the correct beam.
This set has a product code of 99-503 and a listed retail price of $US11.00.

4. 24 x 6 x 1/8 . Constructed from 1/8" basswood this deck set is best suited to replace the plastic decks on most 1/350 scale and larger ships due to the added topweight it can support. Internal bracing is again recommended.
This set has a product code of 99-504 and a listed retail price of $US15.00.

5. 24 x 8 x 1/8 . Made from 1/8" basswood makes this deck set primarily useful to replace the plastic decks on most 1/350 scale and larger ships due to the added topweight it can support. Internal bracing is highly recommended.

The width will eliminate the need to use two deck parts to get the proper beam in most ships and 8" will work for even the widest of 1/350th kitsets.
