Bronco Models have been very industrious and are releasing their 1/200 Chinese Navy DDG138 "Taizhou" Sovremenny Class 956EM Destroyer .
If you love 1/200th scale and modern Chinese destroyers then you must check out these released image of this kitset.
We understand that this kitset will consist of 788 plastic parts on 15 sprues and will include photo-etched parts, display stand with name plate and markings for Chinese PLA Navy in the East China Sea. The finished kit is expected to measure over 30 inches long.
This kitset is expected to be available in June of this year with a suggested retail price of US $279.98.
We will of course update you with more detail as it comes to hand.
Ship History
Launched in 2004, Taizhou and its Sovremenny class destroyers were the Chinese response to advanced US Warships operating in the Western Pacific.
These ships were upgraded with a new combat control system, 9M317SAM (range 45km), 3M80MBE SSMs (range 240km) and two Kashtan gun/missile CIWS. A second Band Stand radar was installed on top of the helicopter hangar which provides guidance for locally made YJ series SSMs.
This destroyer is capable of carrying four Ka-28 helicopters.
