Ships History

The atomic cruiser USS Long Beach was the first nuclear powered ship in the world. She was able to travel 360,000 sea miles at a speed of 20 knots without needing to take on fuel. She went into service in September 1961. The crew numbered 1150. Equipped with what was then most advanced guided missile systems, for a long time she held pioneer status for this new type of powerplant. For defensive purposes there were 2 Terrier launch systems, a Regulus launcher amidships and a Talos battery aft.

Dont get all in a flap about this kit....its NOT a new tooling, its their moldy oldy from way back and they are just re releasing it.... it s a nostalgia kit build if at all.... I built this one a a kid....got it for Christmas , had it built and painted by Christmas dinner.....

I'm sure of that but, have you priced getting one of the old moldy ones. If you have wanted to do this I am sure the price will no longer be prohibative

I like the re-releases just for nostalgia reasons. I got the Abe Lincoln Polaris with the cut-off section, as a re-release for 10-12 USD. Going prices in Ebay were 5-10 times as much for the old moldy molds And do not even try to get the old Saturn V in Ebay... now we have 3 different re-releases. I do agree with Ray that Revell should be a tad more upfront and package this releases in their "Classic" boxes instead of simply labelling them "non-scale". cheers
