As a direct follow on from our earlier news story and as promised here is the latest details on Trumpeters - impending release of their 1/200th USS Arizona BB-39 Battleship 1941.

The current details are outlined below:

USS Arizona BB-39 Battleship 1941
Manufacturer: Trumpeter
Scale: 1/350
Regular Price: Suggested Retail Price US$289.95
Approximate release date: November 2010
Item code: 3071

Now that is correct the Suggested Retail Price at present is US$289.95 however please remember the scale is a HUGE 1/200th scale kitset combined with the already advertised fact that Trumpeter have stated that this is and I quote is “a one time production run” plus look at the kitset features outlined below:

  • 974 plastic parts, 76 photoetched parts & 23 additional metal parts;
  • Lifeboats & transport boats;
  • 12 metal gun barrels & range finders, mounted on a pivoting turret;
  • Metal propeller shafts & gun axis;
  • Metal anchor chain with detailed anchor;
  • 4 sheets of photoetch containing 76 parts for all handrails & cranes;
  • Single piece 36.5 inch long hull with single piece deck;
  • Two OS2U aircatft with positionable catapult;
  • All guns elevate & traverse on a pivot;
  • Heavily detailed mast & bridge with lots of photetch.

I just love the message from Trumpeter associated with this release- ”This is the largest currently produced scale plastic model kit of this famous US WWII Battleship”

We will of course update you with more detail as it comes to hand.

Now we can choose between the Dragon Premium edition, Tamiya and Trumpeter.... wonder who will end up with the best cost/quality combo. I have the Dragon premium edition (1:700), hope I dont have to "upgrade"!
