Trumpeter Models has announced the release of their newest 1/350 scale ship model. If you are a fan of modern naval vessels, then the new 1/350 USS Independence LCS-2 will certainly go to the head of your list.
Much has been reported of the Independence’s stealthy trimaran hull that allows the ship to reach sustainable speeds of about 50 knots (60 mph; 90 km/h) with a range of 10,000 nautical miles (19,000 km).
This Trumpeter kit consists of over 170 plastic parts on 9 sprues plus an amazing 300 photo-etched parts. With lots of detail, the kit includes one MQ-8 UAV and two MH-60S helicopters, a two-piece top and bottom hull assembly with detailed deck hangars, lifeboats, anchor, detailed antenna and masts, full waterjet detail (ship has no propellers), 57mm traversing gun, elevating SeaRAM close-in weapons system (CIWS), searchlights, complete command center, vertical launching system (VLS), bow thrusters and markings for the US Navy. Photo-etched parts include handrails, deck details, hatch doors, helicopter rotors, deck details and 145 deck tie-downs. Completed kit measures over 14” long and has a suggested retail price of $42.95. Release date is set for November of 2010.
