This will accompany the Ting Yuen very nicely. I have a nasty feeling that Bronco didn't pick up on adding PE or plastic ratlines for the masts though. Julian

The Ting Yuan did; there were gun platforms in the masts so ratlines were necessary for the crew to reach them I would bet that this ship has them too. Julian

I did a review of the Ting Yuen last summer if you are interested: http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/review/5232 Julian

The ships from that time frame are so nice looking. It would be oh so nice if Bronco would make a couple cruisers from say the US or UK. But, hey getting more 1/350 ships is always nice. AND, unique subjects are welcome as well.

Brian, I love the dreads and pre-dreads. Those ships have character, where as class ships are boring. I believe the character of the older ships is what draws me to them. The old sailing ships are the same way. Although there were still "class" ships back then each was still different.

ting-01 Battleships back then weren't as large or lengthy as they were during WW2, my Ting Yuen came with a very nice photoetch set, on the down side, there was no ratlines, the net looking triangles that travel from the deck to under the crowsnest, I dare say they have more then one name. Looking at the new offering from Bronco, again no ratlines which, I believe are a very important part of the design for these wonderful looking ships of yesterday, WEM sell 1-350 ratlines, you'll have to double up on these because the distance bewteen deck and crows was vast on the Ting, does anyone know the length of this new model ? The other point would be, the yards are way over scale and simply look simply to thick, you'll have to research the original photo's and you'll see the obvious difference, its not quite the end of the world though, I just wish there was a plastic kit in 1-700 scale. Great write up by the way.
