Thanks Dave,

The layout of the ammo cans is quite clever, there are two belts in each can, the forward one feeds the inner barrels, and rear belts the outer barrels, hence the stagger in the barrels.

All painted.

and mounted on the old girl

That's that done, on with 20mm

The first batch sprayed.

Barrels painted & fitted.

And fitted in place.

nine down twenty to go.

More soon.

Si,

Those POM-POM's look sweet sitting on the deck. They seem to take on a different look (tone?) then when you had them painted on the bench.

Thanks Mark,

Very glad to have them in place. the different tone may well have been better light in my "studio" area last weekend.

Thanks Russ,

Glad to get them in place. The ammo was uncovered, the links should be black and the shells similar or dark green, but my brush skills are not quite up to that, but the brass of the cartridge does as add contrast.

Hi Si,

great to see some substantial progress on the Old Lady - she really looks the part, Mate!!

PomPoms - always a source of 'pleasure' - but those things do look interesting in all their details. Still always I am pretty happy once they are completed. Same goes - to a lesser extend - for the Oerlikons...

Fine job, she looks great!

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks you Jan, for your kind comment,

The pompoms were a bit of a fight. and 33% of the way through the 20mm.

Taking a short break and working on the masts.
Always glad to have you looking in.

Nice work on the AA Si, lots of fiddly bits to try your patience. I agree with Russ, nice touch on highlighting the ammo.

Thanks Michael,

The pompoms were fun, but not without some however the 2omm were less trouble, just a strain on the eyesight.

always glad to have you look in mate.

Finally a very small update from last weekend.

The foremast less on ladder and the masthead radar done.

Nice, is all of it glued or parts of it soldered?

Hi Mark,

They are glued, the yard arms have etched fittings, which means they are not a butt joint.

I will try to remember to take some photos of that part of the process on the mainmast.

next the 6 20mm on the catapult deck, followed by the cranes.

My method of putting the base structure of the 20mm together.

Apologies if I have posed that before, but it does make it easier, we for me anyway, as the shields give you a solid base to work from.

finished and in place.

The crane bases folded.

and built up.

Si,

Really starting to like the way the wire looks instead of EZ-Line. I am going to have to give it a try.

Did those gun tubs come with the kit or did you add them?

Thanks Mark,

The gun tubs came with the Pontos set, very nice resin castings with etched ammo boxes.

They can be a right pain Ken, and these were a bit tricky, but they are Pontos' first attempt, so I'll not be too harsh on them.

Thanks for looking in mate.

Si,

Nice work on the mast.

Is that Blue Tac you have it standing in? If so, do you have a easy method of removing it from the part. I am always dealing with pieces sticking to the part and refuses to just pull away.

It is Blue Tac Mark, two tips, work it so it's nice and soft before you stick anything in it, and take it out as soon as the paint is dry.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Si. I do have habit of leaving the parts on the Blue-Tac to long.
