Made a little progress today.

A bit of dry brushing with some greys and lighter tans.



Dirtied down with a bit of a wash. Not long after the outbreak of WW2, orders were given that wood decks were no longer to be scrubbed. A dark wash put over the top to give a well used look.



Basic deck grey on, the after wood sections have not been lightened as much, as reloads fro the depth charges sit on them, so they will not be as heavily weathered.



No slip areas painted in, need a little tidying up yet, but not too bad.



In order to fit the voicepipes that come down from the bridge I have made a false deckhead out of plasticard.



test fitted in place.



Not perfect, but it will serve as very little is visible when it is all in place.

Interior given a coat of paint, now I can start work on the "furnishings".



First some more work done on what I am assuming is the Galley.

One of there days I will learn following the construction order in the instructions is not always a good idea! Some of the railings on the roof, and two patches of glue where boxes had to be removed because they fouled the railings.



Finally all sorted.



One last little job today, the vents that go on the funnel casing.

Another quick update from last weekend.

A bit of scratchbuilding, the binnacle, telegraph and wheel for the wheelhouse.



after that something simpler.

The windlass.



I have decided to use a length of left over anchor cable to replace the kit part, both shown below.



Hopefully this weekend will allow a little more time in the workshop.

Today's progress.

Paint on the bridge gear, there is a fourth piece, taken from the pictures of the Sackville's bridge, I am presuming it is a revolution telegraph, allowing the wheelhouse to transmit required shaft rpm to the engine room.



all touched up and fitted in place.



Working on the basics for the other two compartments, and how to scratchuild voicepipes, so on with the foredeck.

The windlass sprayed tamyia TS63 Nato Black.



Detail painted and fitted in place.



Making the bottlescrews for the chain stoppers.



Both of them and painted.

Finally got yesterday's progress off the camera.

The wheelhouse deck-head, adding the voicepipes that come down from the compass platform, two into the wheelhouse, one into the captain's cabin a two into the radio room.



Completed and painted, also I Gyro repeater has been added between the two wheelhouse voicepipes.



The compass platform ready for a coat of paint.



And the gun platform.



And, along with the 2pdr bandstand sprayed W.A. Blue.



Whilst that lot were drying I started on some of the after deck detail. Found this little bit on the sprue.



Consulting AOTS it appears to be the downton emergency fire pump. So I gave it a little help, the solid wheel was relaced with a spare etched part, the arm on the other side has been thinned and new handles added.



Fitted in place, along with the funnel & galley.



Cowl vents fitted on the funnel and engine casing. I am not 100% sure of the interior colour, on the photos I have found of the actual ship show them to be quite dark, to dark to the exterior colour in shadow, so I have gone for dark grey.



Funnel stays in place, they do appear from photos to be doubled, I know they have to be adjustable, but I have not been able to find a rigging diagram that show the details.



Before starting on the maindeck detail, particularly the depth charges I decided to get the nameplate in place.

Painted a light brown, with a couple heavy darker washes, and then a light sanding.



Fixed in place.

Bit of an issue with the battery pack for my camera, I did think I was going to have to source a replacement, however it finally decided to charge. so here is this weekend's progress.

Decks on the bridge and gun platforms given a basic coat of paint.



A bit more work on the lower bridge, a bench and couple of black boxes added to the radio room, and the basics of the bunk in the Captain's cabin.



The ports in engine room skylights and other hatches filled with Krystal Klear, this will dry clear.



The 4" gun platform, the non slip strips painted, in order to make painting the ready use shells easier I have applied a dark green wash.



The L'Arsenal depth charge reloads, out of the box.



The waste resin around the spigots is a bit thick, and one or two had bubbles in and broke during clean up, parts from the kit reloads were used to repair.



The 4"gun platform with the shells painted and netting from the Starling etch in place.



The rigging of the gun platform finished, and fitted in place, along with the fo'c's'le deck vents.



The pompom bandstand down along with some more the engine casing details fitted. The KK has dried on the skylights nice and clear.



Detail painting on the bridge, and a wash applied over the etched wood clad compass platform.



Portholes have also been fitted with Krystal Kleer.



They have dried clear, but didn't have a functioning camera to take the pic, will include that in the next update.

It is a handy product, especially if it means glazing can be added after construction.

It has worked well, the portholes have mostly dried clear too. Mind the wheelhouse windows might be a bit of a stretch.

Great work here - you give a lot attention to the details. I especially like the funnel rigging; may I ask you which kind of wire you use for it? I would need such one too for my ISUZU later
