The bigger scale really allows a whole lot more detail to shine through.

Great work here, too, Si!! She's really looking beautiful, with the paint job and the more colorful details you did in the scale. Another fine build, and really nice to see those little ships and boats getting some attention!

Yesterday's progress.
Paint on the resin depth charge throwers.
I have decided to leave one unloaded. I have drilled that one out so the spigot would fit.
And fitted in place. Should have three of them loaded next session.
The starling etched rigging fitted to the Depth charge davits.
and fitted in place.
The railings in place around the after end of the boats,
and fthe base of the forward life raft position in place.
More soon.

Today's progress.
For'd liferaft mounts completed and painted.
All liferaft mounts in place.
The kit rafts are a little bland, I think the rectangular type were more usually on the US / Canadian vessel, however they are what I have.
I did have a little disaster, got off the stool in the workshop, and my right leg failed to proceed, and in trying to keep may balance (and failing) I managed to knock some sprues flying. a couple of which took the Corvette out. The only damage, apart from a few bits knock off, all of which were found easily, both starboard depth charge davits sheered off at deck level. I found one on the floor, but couldn't find the other.
Using the one damaged part I worked on a replacement.
However, it did turn up, and repair done.
The un-needed scratchbuilt replacement sits between the repaired davits.
The port throwers loaded.
The DF loop fitted. I used the starling etched parts for the loop itself. also the bridge windscreens in place.
The L'Aresenal 2pdr built.
test fitted in place.
Finally some stowage boxes in place in front of the bridge.

I am grateful it wasn't a lot worse, especially with all small parts, I think I was saved from worse damage as the Revell plastic is a little softer than some used by the far east boys. And on the upside, I have learned how to scratchbuild simple T section davits.

I was very lucky mate, could have been a lot worse, once off it's stand the model has all the stability of the real thing. How it didn't end up on the floor I don't know.
She is getting there, the rest of the armament, a few other details and the rigging.

Made a little progress today.
The armament.
The 4", the L'Arsenal piece and the kit offering, to be fair the kit unit is more than acceptable for injection moulded.
The L'Arsenal 20mm.
And compared to the kit offering.
The L'Arsenal Lewis guns (cream) and the kit parts (grey).
The L'arsenal mounts were a bit flaky to say the least, probably exactly to scale, but in resin.... I used the L'Arsenal guns and shield and the kit mount.
All the guns base coated.
and the base of the Hedgehog.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not downing what is in the kit parts, for a kit of this complexity at less than £40.00, they are pretty good.
I will be hunting down more of the these for a bit of conversion, and I am still praying the minesweeper variant HMS Bluebell will appear.

Not sure about Bluebell but you can get a kit of Buttercup with the mine sweeping reel aft and the acoustic hammer on the bow picked mine up in Perth at the Scottish Nationals in April from Models for sale bargain at £28

I do agree, for the price of the kit, they are very good indeed, it would make a fine display piece straight from the box, or a few bits and pieces from the spares box.
I am just a lazy modeller and tend to take the aftermarket shortcut

The pompom painted, and ready for fitting.
Mounted along with the two twin lewis guns.
The Hedgehog, I used the kit bombs, and the L'Arsenal launcher.
and fitted along with the 20mm and the Nav lights.
A coat of paint on the 4" and the blast bag, ready for fitting.
And fitted in place.
Some paint going on the liferafts, these will need paddles & rations to be scratch-built.
A quick overview as I haven't put one in for a while.

Fitted in place with the rest of the bits and pieces around bridge front.
Lifebelts and boxes on the back of the bridge.
Last details on down aft, hand rails on the ladder and ensign staff etc.
Railings and bulwarks around the fo'c's'le along with the last few boxes and vents.
The last sub assemblies.
The mast.
and the signal lamps, which have been aided by a few bits f Starling etch.
Nearly there. those bits to paint and fit along with the rafts, then the rigging.

A full length view.
The signal lamps fitted to the bridge.
Starting to add the wire guardrails, I am using the thread provided by Revell for this.
The really tricky ones, that run behind the bridge-wing supports, after trying to be clever I just held the model vertically, bow down and lowered draped an overlong piece of thread into the space. Fixed it to the stantion at the after end, wrangled over all the vents so it was up against the supports and gently pulled it tight and tacked against the stantion in form of the bridge support.
Pity it doesn't really show up.
The bow section finished.
The side bits done, you can see the upper run more clearly on this shot..
This is going to be part one. I have to go finish prepping some Roast Pork for our Sunday supper.
Part two later or tomorrow.
I also have to take the commissioning pictures yet.
