Appreciate your comment. The wire I use is copper wire stripped out of old mains leads for electrical appliances, everyday stuff from round the house. Just strip off all the insulation, unravel the individual strands and role them flat under a steel rule.

Before I go too far over the top with interior it was time to see how the KK would cope, if it could cope, with the bigger spaces.



Not too bad and but I think that will be seen, so think there is enough in there. Might have the wheelhouse doors open on the next one.





Depth charges sprayed white.



Painting on the reloads started.



A little problem with the stream anchor, fixed.



Quarterdeck details going down.



Resin & etched smoke pots built, they will sit on top of the depth charge racks.

It has worked that is the main thing, I was concerned that the size of the openings was pushing the limits.

Test fitting everything in place, there is a decent impression of a busy structure, so I am calling the interior done.

Depth charge racks built up and painted.

The wheelhouse structure fixed in place.



Structure going in place around the wheelhouse, little bit of tidying up with the paintbrush needed.

Some progress yesterday.

The resin boats from L'Arsenal.



Interiors sprayed deck tan, one has had a darker wash applied to bring out the cast detail.



Outside of the hulls painted and grab lines picked out.



Thwarts added to the resin boat, the single etched part was too wide, so I trimmed the thwarts off and fitted them individually. next to it is the kit boat, the shape is fine, but a little lacking in detail.



The boats in place, with oars and mast in place.



The reels for the falls fitted in place, nice to have them provided in the kit. No winches, these boats were raised and lowered by hand.



Davits and griping bar in place, the griping bar would sit on the two triangular brackets on the davits when they were turned out so the boat would be held against the bar prior to lowering, to preventing it swinging as the ship rolled when swung out.



Next job here adding the rigging to the davits.

Paint job finished on the first four reloads.



And fitted in place.

This weekend's progress.

Bottled doing the boat rigging, couldn't get in the zone. Decided to get the bridge fixed down.

One component that needed a bit of help, the skylight in front of the wheelhouse. I can understand it being a little bland, as it won't be that visible.



I drilled out the ports, used some of starlings brass surrounds with the "eyebrows" cut off and glazed with KK. In place along with the yet another locker.



Vents and locker down on the starboard side of the wheelhouse.

The bridge fixed in place.





Must have get that boat rigging done and the rest of depth charge reloads in place next.

The boat rigging, the hook on points, in the boats, for the falls, knowing my ability to drop bits, I made a spare.



The hold down straps, for the boat, I have found photos of these canvas straps, and seen similar in use in my seafaring days, they may be a bit overwide, but I don't think they are too far out.



a little work on the bridge, the voicepipe into the chartspace scratchbuilt, and the Captain's chair from the Starling etch set.



The first of the falls in place.



The first attempt at connecting the falls to their stowage reel.



This did not go well, another study of the references, and I think this is correct, the downhaul runs through a fairlead on the davit, so it doesn't rub against the boat.



One down three to go.

The detail on the small boats is great and more special because you've scratched them yourself. Always feels better when the comes together and looks the part.

I do enjoy solving these little things, that to be fair, in a pure IM kit aren't doable. It is also the joy of working in a larger scale, it is easier to come up with solutions for this stuff.

Yup it is nice when they work too, we will really see when I have got some paint on this.

And to be fair, I am enjoying it too.

It is a great little kit, we could with more like it, accurate and reasonably priced, Ok it lacks the sophistication of the latest offerings from the far east, but it is a good solid kit that lets the builder put their stamp on it.
