She is done, and ensign hoisted.

The last of the build.

Life rafts fitted.



Anchors fitted, they were a little troublesome to get in, had to remove most of the shank, remove the bit that was left and refit it at the right angle to the flukes to get it sit right.



The decals on, the K18 comes from an old airfix 1/72 Bristol bulldog underwing serials, I still need to find something for the stern.



I haven't sealed them yet, might find something better.

The Yard arm shortened to fit the Campanula, and signal halyards added.



Aerials in place.



The rig is fairly simple a couple of aerial runs and half a dozen stays.



The ends of the signal halyards neatly coiled down.



The insulators and feeds to the aerials done.



Finally The Ensign hoisted.



A quick overview, the stand has since been sprayed black.



Will take and post the commissioning photo's tomorrow after work.

Finally, some proper-ish Commissioning .The light was a bit odd outside on Tuesday evening.

This is a great kit, not high tech, just good shape, decent fit and the option to either scratchbuild any additional detail you want, or throw some cash at it.

Even out of the box it would sit nicely on the mantlepiece.

Looking at that open bridge you just gotta think how crappy it must have been working there on a North Atlantic crossing in the winter time.

I think the Starling set is well worth the money, it is basic, but it has the little details that really ad depth, and all of it is useful and usable.

I know I keep saying this, but it is a great little kit, and have enjoyed the build, with all the challenges of a much larger scale.


Have to agree, especially with their reputation for instability. but worse than that, the guys that took these little escorts through an arctic gale, considering most of the officers were RNR or RNVR, and most of the ratings were Hostilities Only, they were very brave men.
