I have changed my mind and is going to participate with the HMS Sheffield. Interesting build with all the necessary stuff in the box. Looks like a good beginners kit.
More to follow....

Good choice for a beginner kit. It has some PE, but if I recall it also has the same parts in plastic.
Also, welcome to the build!

Thanks, Jim. It is a more interesting build for me with the HMS Sheffield instead of the Charles Adams class destroyers, as the HMS Sheffield has a more action packed although sad history.
For a first ship in a long time it is nice to have multiple sources for the research and to give some historic feeling to the build.
I will start the build this evening - looking forward to it

Thanks, Jim.
I have made a few small glitches here and there, but overall it looks like HMS Sheffield

Pretty satisfied so far since it is my first "real" ship in more than a decade.
I have now finished all the construction except for the PE handrails. These are scaring me a little as I had some problems with the PE antennas due to the very small contact point between the PE and the plastic.
Does anybody have some good advice on how to get the handrails on without drowning the sail in super glue?

Two words-
Gator Glue
Kenny makes a very good glue for PE. Get some of it.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
I read about Gator glue before I started my build. Wanting to be well prepared for my first ship in more than a decade I ordered two bottles. Just to be sure to be able to handle the small PE parts. I have used it so far on my tin can and it works very well.
I will try to start on the railings this week.

Looks great Jesper! The PE looks good from here... I will also be doing my first PE ever with the S Adams (another Dragon premium kit). Looking forward to seeing the paint, cheers!

Thanks, James.
I have now finished my first ship kit in more than a decade. I am satisfied with the result, but that is just because my expectations were not that high for this kit due to my lack of shipbuilding experience

Not at all up to my normal standards for tanks and aircraft, but still good enough to find a place on the shelves
It has been a fun build although I dropped it several times during construction/painting and the radar antenna is not entirely square anymore

Next time I build something smaller than 1/72 scale it must be a submarine with less PE.
Fun to participate

I have just uploaded pictures in the gallery.
It was a little strange as there was pictures of an aircraft carrier in the gallery as well. However, the gallery was the official Cold War tin can gallery.

I haven't posted in a bit, work got in the way... Suffren's 100mm gun turret plug is roughed out, I have to add the doors, scoop out the pit where the gun sits, and it'll be ready to form the mold! While I've been indoors tonite, I got the hull frames separated out to cut wood tomorrow. The shipyard is gearing up, I will be making a mold to cast a fiberglass hull from. My Brit friends are dismayed that I'm getting froggy (most of my molds are British ATM), but my francophile friends are enthused

If I didn't announce it before, I decided on 1/144. Was tempted to do 1/96, but with 3 Suffrens it'd be a great space-consuming monster dio (after the other two group builds).
I'll try to post a pic of the turret plug and the hull plug in progress shortly.

Good thing I stumbled across this as I'd never uploaded a photo of the Haida into the Gallery. Now it's always been my understanding that images uploaded into campaign folders didn't eat away at your available photo space but over tha past few months they have used up all of my space and I can't upload any more photos unless I delete photos from Campaign folders.

Mike,
Could you please send them to:
rui.matos at modelshipwrights.com
I'll do the trick for you
As for your gallery space... it doesn't matter where you upload the images (your member gallery, campaigns or other folders), what counts is the indexed images and size associated to your callsign/membership.
Also, if you can, you can subscribe to A-Guard (Golden or Silver) and your gallery space will be much bigger, depending on the subscription type.

Mike,
Very nice clean build ! I also love the water look you have achieved, absolutely outstanding. I've been off building a few 1/72 aircraft, so now I'm back with "Water World". And I've got to get moving on this build. We'll see how this comes out. Take it easy, Crew........Bruce
