Rui,
Glad to be back..... I just build whatever spins my prop at the time. But it is definitely time for some saltwater building. So what are you working on now ?

Sounds like its time for another "Sub-campaign" ........"Bottom Gun" = Cold War Sub games ? Never can tell !!!!!

Take it easy..........................................Bruce

For some reason today, a vague memory of an old Pit-Road JMSDF Hatsuyuki popped into my mind. I did some digging in the stash and sure enough, there she was, purchased for a couple of dollars at an IPMS meeting last year. So, a wild hair struck, and I've decided to hop on this campaign too. HWJapan providentially had ONE copy of the dedicated PE set (required for the cage mast and radar arrays) left and one was all I needed. The PE is ordered and when it arrives, I'll see if I can get this little rig together by December 1st.

OK Crew,
I'm hoping for some help here..... At present I'm pushing like heck to finish the USS Richard E. Byrd , DDG-23 for this build. My question has to do with the color (or colour, if you prefer !) of the life preservers hung on the outside bulkheads. I've been digging around the net and researching photos. Unfortunately it seems to different from ship to ship and even time periods of the same ship. I've seen them white, Grey, or International orange. Last time I knew from the Coast Guard they were normally International Orange.

Any suggestions, input, or ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Guys......Bruce

Whew, the PE for my build finally arrived just last week. I hadn't really started on the Hatsuyuki yet because I wasn't sure what the PE would entail... So anyway, once the PE arrived, I started in earnest- this gangbusters work is why I've been fairly quiet the past week and why I slowed on the Kongo. Construction is pretty much done and now it's time to paint and do final assembly. I didn't go crazy on this build, so the Aztec stairs remain, etc. Considering I'll have about only two weeks from start to finish, that's probably for the best...

The Pit-Road 1/700 JMSDF Hatsuyuki with Pit-Road PE for the mast and other things (PE jack stands not fitted), and rails by Tom's.

A closeup of the nice mast and radars made of full PE. The mast is probably the most noticeable aspect of this ship, so the PE replacement really brings it together.

Gonna try to get the painting done this week. Also, this will be on a foil water base, so since this project has to be done long before the Hiryu, I will write my feature article water how-to based on this project.

Well everyone, the end of this campaign is fast approaching. I will be the first to ask for an extension from the great and all powerful OZ. Anyone else? I was thinking maybe until Jan 30.

A reminder if anyone is finished, post your work in the Campaign galley. If you need help let me know!

I think mine will get in at a photo finish as a challenge to myself, but an extension can't hurt. I'm at the point where I just wanna get my build done so I can then focus on getting something up for my contest Hiryu for November.

Well I'm on leave next week (the first for many, many months) so I could certainly do with a wee extension to finish the HMS Liverpool... Please Boss?

Yo Mighty Chief,
Unfortunately I too could use an extension - 2 weeks would be Great ! I'm getting soooo close, but we all know what happens when we rush. Mine is the Adam's class USS Richard C. Byrd...DDG23.

I'm trying a new base technique from our own groups tutorials - so we'll see how this one comes out.

So let us know, Thanks...........................Bruce

Jim, it's your Campaign. You are the Great & Powerful Oz!

An extension would be most welcome! Say, December 1, 2009! Ok, maybe not that long. January 30, 2009, should be long enough.

LOL...a year extension. Mark is the power behind the thrown. I was moving along really well and BOOM, real life gave me a cods wollop. I was being selfish asking about an extension but I think it would be a good idea. It'll give Dade some community build time.

Plus I just moved my shipyard to a new room and it is a mess right now.

Ill second (third, fourth?) the motion... also had some life/work smacks summer/fall that wiped most of my bench time. Zero chance I can complete by original date, but most of late Dec/Jan will be R&R so I should be able to give it a decent go....

Yikes, don't put it like that! Makes me sound even more self-centered than I usually am! I actually got a lot of work done on the Hatsuyuki today. It's strange to say, but an extension will help me best with the photos. Not having to take them, clean them up, and post them at the last minute, will save a lot of headaches (after all, I'll be doing that for the community build). I may still throw a quick pic up by deadline for the heck of it with better ones to follow...

I was thinking since I was leader of the camaign I should finish. I know you are rather busy with thigns so if we can give you some breathing time it might help.

Jim,

I have a confession to make. The reason why I asked for an extension form my "Keep on Truckin'" campaign was so I, the campaign leader, could finish my truck. Life sure does have a way of getting in the way of the fun stuff. Been there.

Excellent! In that case, whatever I have done tomorrow on this build is where I'll stop until I get some more time on my contest entry under my belt. I'm sure the natives are getting restless about a Kongo update too... So let me be one of the multitudes to say thanks a million for the extension!

I have offically changed the end date to Jan 31, 2009.

So, everyone will be happy and this lazy campagn leader can finish his own darn ship. If I fail to finish you can mock me in the town square.

Jim,
I see now why you were sooo willing. LOL

The cat's out of the bag! (There's another Navy term for you.) I just found it a little embarissing that the campaign leader couldn't finish his own truck.

Didn't I use that for a WOD? I forget.

I am in the same boat(HA!) and it is the ship I was on in the Navy. So I had better finish it! Tomorrow while the women fok are working on dinner. I plan to sneak into the spare room and mess with some PE.

Ahhhh Exhalted Chief ! (and yes, that really hurts an ole Jarhead to say that ! )

I, for one thank you for the extension. I too am fighting with the PE at present, and I definitely do not like the way the base is coming out. Now I have the time to reconsider my base and rework if needed.

This is what I get for modeling a surface ship !!!!!

USMC and USN all get paid from the same account. (Ducking the incoming fire)

Hope the extra time will help everyone!

Don't be affraid to ask, we want as many of us out there to finish!
