Dade and Kenny, thanks for the complements.

Kenny, the Gator glue has come through once again. I'll clarify in a little bit.

The Island is complete

The only thing I was worried about was the antenna rigging extensions and their attachment to the island, after the blast mantelets had been mounted. Turns out that I needed to only snip off a little bit of the portion that, in real life, protrudes from the mantelet so that the angles aren't wonky. The top extension's rear section attaches directly to the island structure. A little bit of the front attachment was snipped off and Gator glued directly to the mantelet. The bottom extension just slips in nicely between the top and bottom blast mantelet.

The mantelets were just primed with no paint. Tried using CA to glue to the island's structure or railing. Some held and some didn't. Used Gator glue on those that didn't and now they are solidly welded on. Thanks Kenny!!

Debating whether or not gluing the island onto the deck before the deck weathering.

For what it's worth, those were bed rolls the sailors tied to the island.

WOOHOO! 1st post!

Please tell me you're going to come back and post some completed photos of this beast! I just bought it and I'm looking forward to the build! Although, I don't think this will be my 1st model after a 19 year hiatus!

Haha...YES it is! I actually think I might tackle one a bit smaller and then hit Akagi. I've got a couple lined up, Graf Spee, Prinz Eugen, and Shokaku. Just have to pick which one!
