Thanks for the prompt reply, Christian. I plan on using them on the after deck where the kit parts would have gone. Started trying to scratch-build them myself, but these would make my life simpler. I'll have to order a pair.

Hello All,
thank you for the order, I will fix this this evening and upload a new version, sometimes funny how Shapeways is calculating diameter and tollerances. In principle no biggi. sometimes cumbersome. I alos had the situation that initial print was OK and the secon was rejected due to issues....
Shapeways is remaking a to thin diameter of 0,4 mm even though minimum is 0,3 :-((
So I'll keep yoi posted here this (my) evening.

Thanks, looking forward to getting these items, big improvement over the kit parts which look like over-turned buckets. Will have to dust off my S-Boote and get back to working on it.

Hello Christian, I got an email from Shapeways that says the items that I ordered cannot be printed. Don't know what the problem is, but I hope they get it sorted out.

Thanks, made a lot of progress on my boat, correcting the gun tub, adding details, and then ran out of steam trying to scratch those items. Yours look good and the price was reasonable.

Great news, were they the only problem? Shapeways also mentioned the Nebelnboje in one of the emails that they sent me. On their website it says they are "Not for Sale", is there a problem with them? Interested in those as well as the French Buoys.

Hello Christian, S18 looks great underway. Would like to see some close-ups. Heard from Shapeways and placed an order for the two types of smoke-buoys. Hope there won't be any hiccups this time.

Just a starter to tease you

Thank you for the order Al, I hope you will enjoy the models. I am currently working on the targeting computer and I am separating all black colored parts from the object to ensure a proper contrast paint job.
here are some pictures as a starter, more to follow next weekend.

Gotta say, I was never a big fan of the early boats, always preferred the sleeker S-38 & S-100 Klasse boats myself. But I surely can appreciate the amount of work that went into this model. It looks terrific. I like the attention to detail, like the open sliding door inside the cabin. Great model.

Thank you Al, (the sliding door can be closed to, they are sliding…)
While I think the S100 looks very solid and sneaky in her approach – the S18 Type boat looks very aggressive with the exposed Torpedo tubes on the back.
For me very similar with the PT596 where the people on the front guns are very exposed without any protecting shield – very aggressive.
BTW the torpedo hatches where movable up and down with the small dc engines under the position light boards, but the most frequent use and the long tube was eroding the POM cogwheels thus now they do not move. I have to change this to brass cogwheels soldered to the brass tube. But first more details for the S100 – All what do you think about a Naxos radar tower or depth charges with roll of rack?

Don't think I'd use the depth charges myself, though others might. The Naxos could be an interesting addition.

Hello Al, i heard the smae information that my model went from 1st rey to final printing. ggod to hear.
WRT the naxo I am almost done with it. The topic here is the clear radom we need. This cannot be printed therefore we have to reuse the pill blisters in medication. At my Naxo I am using the blister of a Vitamin E pill, this blister has a fitting diameter. More specific Al please look for a blister on ypour side, this we will use as ardom and we are looking for minimum diameter of 9 mm and a maximum of 11 mm. Lake a look and let me know what ydiemesion of your radom is and I created a holding ring on the Naxo against this radom can be fixed.

Hello Christian, I'm not sure yet which boat I'm going to do, leaning towards S-205 HaJu. Don't think it mounted the Naxos system. Have to check my references.

I received my order from Shapeways today. Upon opening the box there was good news and bad news. The Kriegsmarine Nebelboje and their baskets arrived intact and look good. I am particularly impressed with their storage baskets, very delicate and well defined. The buoys themselves looked great also. However, the baskets that came with the French buoys were both broken. I think that the reason being the ziplock bag they were placed in was too small and applied too much pressure for such delicate items. I sent an email to the manufacturer and I'm waiting to hear how they will respond. One note to Christian, the attachment points on the German buoys are very delicate, but the ones on the French buoys were rather heavy and might make separating them without damage difficult. Don't know if this was a design issue or a manufacturing one. Just wanted to let you know. All in all I'm happy that I ordered them despite the damage. Hopefully Shapeways will replace the broken parts. If not, I think that I might just be able to repair them.

Hello Al,
thank you for the feedback. I can change the print frame according to your feedback.
You can eliminate the print frame with a dremel grinder, that is imho the only effective way..
I am glad you likes it at the end - there is more detail to come.Maybe you can post some pictures if you want to
