Hi Luciano,

Thanks mate, blind luck really, Hannants can be a bit hit and miss with 1/350 aftermarket, so every so often I have a browse through the website to see what gems I can find.

On the whole I like 'vette, a lot, I agree the light weapons, the bridge and small details could use some help, but I reckon it is excellent value for money. some aftermarket in the form of a little etch and turned brass and a decal sheet or two and I coutld quite happily build several of these babies.

Cheers

Si

I picked up a somewhat large package today.

It does look really nice inside the box. The hull shape looks good, the main turrets are much better than the 1/350th kit.

Hi Michael,

was an even tighter fit into the car, yup it is a bit big.

Hi Warren,

Only just arrived in the UK, had this on pre order.

From conversation with the Pontos guys at Telford back in November, I don't think I am breaching any confidence, but they were talking of producing a set, that would be first choice.

Cheers

they had the test shots of the 1/200 Hood on display at the national IPMS (Southern Model Expo) in Melbourne over the weekend just gone-it's immense! I'm surprised you didn't need to open up a wall to get it inside the house Si!

Now tell me, aside from the cost (ahem, which is equally as large ) how did you get that past Mrs Duster, and more importantly, where do you plan to put it after you've built it?

Si,

Now that is a very impressive acquisition. I am looking forward to the day that I can acquire a large scale kit myself...

Looking forward to seeing her come together!!!

Hi Russ,

Just told Mrs Duster how big & how much, no way I could hide this purchase, and she was very good about it. As to what I am going to do with it when I have finished it, you get the same answer as Mrs Duster - I will worry about that when I finished it!

Hi Luciano,

Give me a chance mate, the after market isn't out yet

Hi Dave,

Thanks Mate, you may have to wait a bit, but I will be blogging the build.

Cheers

Minor technicalities Mark,

Not totally sure I have, but I will manage somehow. With this ship could not resist it.

Thanks Dave,

Approximately Lots! to say the least. it will be a while before I get round to this on.

Somewhat less than £300, Like anything I look around, and have a word with a trader that I count as a friend (in this case he called me. Knows me too well)

Back from an armour show today and found a few marine related items and one little armour purchase.

These last items are resin N gauge or 1/150 scale close enough for 1/144, they are LCM IV, LCM VI, LCA and in the long pack a LCT IV, the little armour item not in the picture is a Churchill AVRE which will be part of the load for the LCT.

Interesting books, and the resin landing craft look pretty cool.

I picked this one up at my LHS last week. Didnt pre-order or anything, just saw it on their web, so I got in the car went over there and bought it. 113 Euro was the bill. The kit looks very nice and a good deal for the money. It has a big set of PE including full railing. One downside however is that there is no option for the elevators to be lowered. The only option is to have them level with the deck.

Just checked the website and it says July release. Where did you get yours Naseby?

Hi Warren, there are many reasons why I think would love to live down under - Australia's access to the world's model ship marked is certainly not one of those reasons

She's on sale in Europe since late April / early May, I got mine about two weeks ago, but only because I had the order combined with some other stuff that was out of stock. First shops here are already sold out, but I'd think they will re-stock. 115€ +/- a little is about the standard price now. I got mine for 119€.

Cheers,
Jan

Hi Warren

I was at southern model expo on Queen's birthday long weekend here in Melbourne and a couple of retailers had the Ark for sale-could it be an Adelaide thing?

Try Models and Hobbies 4u in Boronia, or Metro Hobbies in Box Hill.

Jan, Warren glad you've found the Ark as there is still no sign of them here in the UK, although I have one on 'pre'-order to collect in August if it has turned up by then.

Well its the Ark Royal, so UK modellers are going to be the last to get it We have a few very nicely supplied LHS in the Wien-Bratislava-Budapest area and however strange that might sound I do shop for models "abroad" its 40-50 minutes with a car and the curency is the same

Cheers Luciano.

I don't really know why I was a bit put out... I have the 1/200 HMS Rodney and Pontos set, and 1/200 HMS Hood on the way.

And I still have a huge stash to tide me over. Just greedy I suppose.

Same here, same here. I have enough to keep me going until I'm 150 at the very least, thing is I build fast but then hit the buffers when it comes to paint.
