Time to build my WEM 1:700 Warspite in the 2 x grey camo. This time, I know I have the references, and plenty of them, so this should be a good break for me...........and breathe out...............

I am currently working on an upgunned Baltimore CA-62. When I am done with that I will start my 1/700 Cushing DD-797 for this campaign.

Yep, it's first-things-first over here as well: I want to get the Jutland scene done and time out the completion of the Santiago dio for the completion of the Pre-dred Campaign in August...

But, I have my eye on a pair of British heavy cruisers and a Great War troopship for this camo!

Mark, would a US WWII sub be eligible for the campaign? I intend to do it in the three-tone (dark grey, light grey, black) camo, but since there is so little of the dark grey, I wasn't sure if it would qualify as a "disruptive scheme." Jan's boat is a good example of what I intend to do.

It's the pattern on the bottom of this page: Scharnhorst Operation Sizilien/Operation Ostfront camo. Image from http://www.scharnhorst-class.dk/index.html.

Would a small three ship group be ok for this campaign?

I've ordered the kits for a North Atlantic escort group which will be in Western Approaches camo. A Tamiya "Bogue" carrier which will be used as a Royal Navy "Attacker" class and two destroyers that I'm going to mount together on a base.

If the subject is ok, then I'll sign up.

I would imagine that as long as one or more of them wear camo then you would be good to go.

My three ship group:

Started today - hulls assembled so that I can measure and start the base. I plan to show the two destroyers oiling from the carrier.

Greets all,

I had been waiting for others to make a first post, so I could follow the format, but I just got back from a business trip and only DaveCoxhas done so. Thus, please forgive me if the post's format is not the correct one. I promise I will learn quickly

Anyway, I chose the BB North Carolina in 1/350 scale for several reasons. First, this is my first contact with PE, and at 1/700 it would have been too hard for my eyes. Second, it is to be a birhday gift for my brother, whose birthday is March 1st, the day after this build ends, and he has always been partial to US battleships from WWII. Cammo is to be measure 32, model 18D, second version. It will be a full-hull build, due to my brother's preference.

Thi is a picture with the model's parts and PE aroud a local newspaper (sorry if it is in Spanish, but hard to get a newspaper written in English around here):

And this is a closeup of the newspaper, where the date can easily be seen Saturday the 6th of June, 2009:

This is the hull, which needed some putty and sanding to make the halves fit right. With CA glue and a little pressure I could have made the lower half conform to the upper one, but that would have caused stress (the strengthening tabs of the top half buckled slightly), so I walked the far easier putty road. Unfortunately, the good liquid model puttys are not sold here, so I had to use Testors blue-tube putty, and that one leaves some imperfections that the paint will not totally hide. Them be the breaks, I guess:

Next step will be to go to the sea cargo office, pick up Gator's mask & glue, and paint the cammo scheme on the hull. Hopefully I will do that before the month ends, and I will have another update by then.

Hey all, tomorrow I will start posting pictures of my build, Even though I work 2 jobs (One at a store the other I'm a tattoo artist) and don't have alot of time really to build but my youngest told me to finish one so I will try, A year my not be enough time but I WILL finish this one. My kit is the Ironshipwrights 1/350 Scharnhorst this kit is a full hull resin kit I plan to use Guido's formula for a waterline build (It will save time not to grind the hull). Scharnhorst will be shown in his last camo at the battle of North Cape. More to follow.

I am looking forward seeing your Scharnhorst, its a beautifull ship.

A question for you gentlemen, I have begun preparations for my build, its the U201 build from Revells 1:72 VII C, and I have cut the base, but still have to treat it - is the mounts too much ?

It's good to see that you've started on this, Jan. I'll be following your build closely. Will you start your own build log?

Yes, I think that the mounts are a little much, however that's personal preference. I liked what you did with your USS Barb, but if you want something more ornate, you could try lamp risers. You should be able to get them at any home improvement store. A thinner and/or longer base could be appropriate as well.
