I started work on the Minesweeper last night. It's a difficult kit as it is not only very small (1/700), it is also molded in clear plastic making it very difficult to see mold lines. I'll get some photos up as soon as I find the misplaced transfer cable for my camera.

It's kind of cool because it looks like a little crystal ship, but I'm not really sure what the purpose of using clear plastic was. Oddly the support helicopter is gray plastic, go figure.
It's the SkyWave/Pit Road 1/700 JMSDF Defence Ship Yamagumo Class (Previous Type) DD113 Yamagumo & Hatsushima Class Minesweeper combo kit. I'm not sure which one of these is the actual kit number so I'll share all three, J01C, P-1700, SW-1500. The Yamagumo Class ship is molded in clear plastic as well and I will finish that one up too if I have enough time.

I had to put my project on the back burner for awhile due to other commitments. However now I am ready to try and finish it up in time. I should be able to get it done by the end of the month.

Not very good photography but here are some in-progress photos of my project.

Still have some detail work to do and I need to dull coat everything. The water didn't turn out exactly like I wanted but it was the first time I attempted it. I added the seagull dropping on the mine for someting a little different. I also removed the cap from the one figure and added a beret instead.
Now that I actually got some work done on it I feel more confident about having it finished by the deadline.
Thanks,
Randy

Nice work Randy, Captures the scene very well. I think the water works rather well. Unfortunately never got my 2nd project for this off the ground, the Mini Art British Royal Engineers mine clearing figures. Usual problem, too many models, not enough time.

Thank you Simon. I have gone back and added more layers to the water to give it more depth. Looks a little better now.

Thank you for the encouragement Guido. I plan on posting pictures tomorrow. I finished up the painting today and dull coated everything. I want to do a little pastel work on it and add the newspaper to the one figure's hand and that should be it. So if all goes well I will post my finished entry sometime tomorrow.
Thanks guys,
Randy

Well here is my completed entry.

Thank you for the campaign Guido. It gave me a chance to model a subject I haven't modeled before. Plus I got to scratch build my first floating mine!!
Thank you,
Randy
PS. The gallery worked just fine.
